Putin and Collins have never been seen in the same place at the same time, so...

I love it when people see this brilliant Phil Collins video and like you did, say "I didn't know he played drums". For old farts like me, we knew Phil as one of the best drummers in rock, ever, in Genesis. He took over as lead singer of Genesis when Peter Gabriel left. This solo part of his career came later.

Phil Collins isn't a singer who happens to play the drums, he is a drummer who happens to sing.

Phil is a drummer both by trade, and at heart. Drumming is his true passion.
In Phil's own words: "I'm just a drummer that knows how to sing a little bit."

He's actually a phenomenal drummer.

As an 80's baby, I love watching younger generations appreciate the beauty of Phil Collins singing AND playing the drums!!

Phil Collins is an icon. This is such an iconic song. He wrote this song about his divorce. Singing and playing drums is very difficult and he does it with ease. Love your reaction!

Most epic divorce song on the planet! And the most incredible live performance you’ll ever see! He’s referring to his first divorce. He was soooo angry. So NEVER piss Phil off cuz he’ll write a song about it and drag your ass all over the world!

Phil Collins was one of the best progressive rock drummers before he took over lead vocals in Genesis after Peter Gabriel left the band. He was one of a few artists that absolutely owned the 1980s (and a lot of the 1990s too)!

Phil is a drummer who happens to sing. I saw Genesis in 1987 - mind-blowing. Oldsters all know what’s coming….

I remember this song from Miami Vice way back in the early 80's. Really set the tone for that and a few other shows. Love how the crowd reacts when he is about to start playing.

And yes he is one of that rare breed of drummer and lead vocalist.

The best revenge song ever written and produced. Absolute legend to this day. And the best thing is that everyone can give free rein to their ideas about how revenge is carried out. Or whether he could take revenge at all. It may be that he waited his whole life for this moment, then stood in front of him and could do nothing.

"Taking his sweet time" is kind of the point. This song is about the slow-burn, letting the tension build as we anticipate those drums

Great live performance! Phil Collins is best known as the drummer/singer of the rock band Genesis in the 70's & for his solo career. He has had so many great hits such as "Another Day In Paradise", "I Don't Care Anymore", "Against All Odds", "One More Night", "Sussudio", "Take Me Home", "Two Hearts", "A Groovy Kind Of Love", "I Wish It Would Rain Down", "You Can't Hurry Love" etc.

Phil 's drumming is so innovative, unique and influential that he is on my Mt. Rushmore of modern, popular drummers. His dexterity and ability to play with so many varied artist - let alone Genesis and his solo work reveals the career of a man whose total body of work can never be duplicated. His technique was at the forefront of the early '70's prog rock movement and the sound that you hear from his records from 1980 on set the standard from drumming sounds on your radio for the remainder of the 1980's through today. there can never be another career like Phil's because the times are so different so many things have simply been done. But he is only one of three artists (Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson) who sold over 100 million records as both part of a group and solo. Not even Paul Simon, Sting or Phil's former Genesis bandmate Peter Gabriel did that.

Tragically, his dedication to drumming have in part led to health issues that now prevent him from walking properly, a botched back/neck surgery, the inability to drum any longer and have led to his forced retirement. His last two tours saw him having to be seated and performing. A true perfectionist, he opted not to take the easy way out by lip-synching to vocal tracks like so many of his contemporaries like Don Henley and Paul Stanley. What was left of Phil was left on the table.

Phil is one of three musicians that sold over 100 million copies of albums as a band and as a solo artist.
The other two are Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson.

Phil Collins was a drummer who became the lead singer for the band Genesis. He is playing in sync with the bands drummer Chester Thompson. This is probably the most popular song from Phil's solo career.
