Welcome to the tutorial where I'll explain how I mix and blend colours to create a bird's beak.

I'm drawing this female cardinal's beak which is a bright red / pink colour. I do not have the exact coloured pencils in my collection so I'll take you though all of the coloured pencils that I used to blend the shade directly on my Pastelmat. I'm effectively using my paper to mix and blend my colours just like a watercolour artist would use a paint palette if mixing watercolors.
