Confession: I watch all of his videos just to support him even if I’m not currently studying the topic. Yes I appreciate him that much.

Hi, I just wanted to say that you saved my math grade last year. I love watching your videos because you explain every problem in a simple way and it just makes learning so much fun. I can watch your videos all day long. Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful videos :)

For anyone watching later on. If you don’t want to use point slope to find b, then just plug it into the y = mx + b. {Choose any coordinate (preferably a given one) and plug it in} Example: (2, 0) —>
y = mx + b —>

0 = m(2) + b .... since we already solved our slope, then replace m with the slope ( in this case 1) —>

0 = 1(2) + b —> (simply)

0 = 2 + b —> (subtract both sides to get b alone) —>

-2 = b ( I hope this also helps for others looking for another method.... it looks like a lot of steps, but I showed every part to hopefully make it digestible)

Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for showing me how to compute the Equation of a Secant Line in Calculus. This is the first time that I can remember a Tutor/Teacher showing me this classic computation in Mathematics.

If there were no x-intercepts would you just plug the secant x values for both into the given function?

Can you choose any coordinate to be x2, y2, =? Like could P(-1, -3) been x2, y2?

so could we use this same method for a f(x) equation?

Without the m(slope), you can find the equation using this equation (x-x1)/(x2-x1) = (y-y1)/(y2-y1)
