Specialized Turbo Creo E-Bike Makes You Ride Like a Pro

Most electric bikes that you see on the street are set up for commuters and delivery riders. They’re heavy, with wide tires to soak up bumps, and come decked out with fenders and luggage racks. Bikes like this are great if you want to leave the car at home and take an electrically-assisted ride.

But what about battery-powered performance road bikes? This type of bike has always perplexed me — adding weight and complexity to a design meant to be as light and nimble as possible. That is, until I spent a few weeks riding the Specialized Turbo Creo SL Expert Evo, an e-bike that makes assisted road riding feel completely logical.

I think it’s neat that Jalopnik is getting into the ebike review scene. It gives people options other than cars and motorcycles.
I seen some pretty cool evokes honestly, one guy even did a dual motor one with a single battery. Thing was fast!

You pay a premium but Specialized make some awesome ebikes. I have the Turbo Tero 5.0 and use it to commute 20mi a day 5 days a week. Before that I rode a regular mountain bike, what a difference the option of electric adds to your commutes! Game changing! I can enjoy my analog rides on the weekend and blast to work easily no matter the wind or weather! If I want to get a training ride in I can do it with the power meter on my ebike and kill two birds with one stone!

I would love more e bike stuff
I’d love to see reviews and a buying guide esp for first time buyers or budget buyers

I have 2 months experience with a Turbo Creo Comp 2 and IME if you run ECO mode 100% of ride you will decrement the battery charge !% per mile of ride.
If you use the ECO mode intermittently for hills and catchup then I would expect an 80 mile range starting at 90% + charge and draining down to 20% or so.
I live in a fairly flat state however. Typically riding 30-40 miles on road or gravel I use 25-35% of battery charge. I have 600 miles on the bike so far. I did switch
tires to 36 mm Gravel Kings. FWIW the bike controller actually includes speedometer, odometer and power meter which can be read out real time with a Garmin
or Wahoo or using a smartphone Specialized app. Power meter gives you bike motor power or rider power or combo.

I want to get an E-bike but their price tags always make me dizzy. Are they only for rich people?
