How to import .mov files to After Effects 'File is damaged or unsupported' [Solution 2016]

Do you have the problem, where you want to import a .mov (Quick Time Movie) in After Effects and then you see that annoying message:
After Effects error: file '*.mov' cannot be imported - this '.mov' file is damaged or unsupported.
Now you don't need to say anymore "what the fuck is wrong?!", because i have THE SOLUTION FOR YOU!

In this short tutorial i show you how to fix this Error and you don't loose any video quality and you can also import videos with a transparent background or alpha channels !

in my case doesnt work, and converte the file to mp4 and Ae give me an error usin codec animation or h264 in after and previously follow step by step ur tutotrial. =(

Hi there, can you help me out regarding this after effect. I have 2020 after effect recently. I watched few videos and searched but couldn't fix the problem.
Problem is i can't import any videos or greenscreen videos that i have into the program! I have downloaded quicktime for mp4 videos to work but nothing and did that many times and also when downloading youtube videos i convert them to Avi and i tried MOV so the program supports it but nothing! its frustrating. I just want to make mp4 or any video open in the program but getting the box saying: after effect error, could not read from source. please check the setting and try again. any easy steps to show me? appreciate it.

I would suggest using a program like Handbrake to convert your raw video files before importing them to After Effects

Sorry to burst the bubble but it does not work for me. Neither using the 2020 version tip. Keeps saying "unsupported file" despite quicktime pro 7.7.9, despite Avid codecs, despite k-lite codec pack... Damned, it had to be me...
