Actually, the SNES Jr. (SNES 101) came out at the end of the SNES's life if I remember correctly. I remember picking up one at Walmart after my original one had the power port break. It lacks the expansion port on the bottom, RF switch and jack, and eject button. The controller ports are also spaced a bit closer, too.

The original SNES came out in 1991, and the SNES Jr. (not the mini) came out in 1997.

That's the SNES I have! Got it off eBay way back in the day, and it came with over 20 games. I had the region lock removed a few years back, so now I can play Panel de Pon and Madou Monogatari on it!

My older sister bought that console version w/A Link To The Past game around Thanksgiving 98 from Target. I gave her the Zelda Prima strategy guide I bought years prior.

It also lacks a cartridge eject button and it doesn't support s- video like the original. Still a good console though.

I never even had the original snes. I only had the snes mini and never knew there was a bigger version till a couple years ago lol
