today we tested to see if an airhorn would break a wine glass

Mythbusters covered this, they broke a glass with a speaker.

1 wet your finger and run it around the rim, the glass will make a ringing tone. This tone is the only tone that can break the glass.

2 if the tone hits too large an area, as the vibrations travel around the glass, the glass will vibrate in sync and won't break. If the tone hits a small area then one part of the glass will be moving in as a nearby part is moving out causing it to shatter. Mythbusters did this by putting a wood board with a two inch hole between the speaker and the glass.

You're supposed to put straw in it so that it vibrates because of the sound so that it vibrates fast enough because of the loud high pitched sound, so then it breaks the glass.That's why I didn't break
