Fun fact even tho in ww1 movies it is shown that whistles are used to order charges but that didnt become normal during mid war and from the late 1915 they stopped using whistles for charging as trench warfare became norm and hearing whistles would make the enemy alert that a charge is coming so they usually ordered charges by companies not entire battalions.

That second one, the pouch whistle thing, we use in the RAF Cadets, and the RAF, to alert people nearby when the Flag (Ensign) is being raised or lowered before and after a parade night, to tell all Cadets/ personnel to come to attention and face the Ensign, and to tell Officers to Salute for the duration of the lowering and raising. It is pretty loud, but it can take a few tries to get the technique to squeeze it properly lol. Definitely took me about 5 tries anyway
