Creating a Server | Appendix | Minetest Modding Course

In this video we'll be taking a look at how to host and run your own Minetest server on a GNU/Linux system. The basics are probably the same for windows and mac, but I don't own either of those systems so don't bother asking about it. :P

Thank you Nathan for making this it was helpful. I want to host a parkour server and I got a website and everything going the realized I didn't now how to host a headless 24/7 server XD. This is also helpful because I have my main gaming RPi 5 and then a few others Raspberry Pies lying around.

hello I created a server, in minetest-server, it always starts only in minetest vanilla, and the only world that enters is the 'world' ....how could I add the mods to it?
I created the "mods" folder and added a modpack to it, but I don't know how to enable the mods...thanks!

I'm new to linux so i might sound stupid, but where is my minetest bin folder on linux?
(manjaro kde, installed minetest with the "add/remove software" program)

Probably a silly question, but can't it be bad if people know your IP by sharing it publicly? I'm kinda new to all this, so I thought I'd ask, but I thought people knowing your IP address can lead to security and privacy issues... Thank you!

Hey, i tried the tutorial but my server still doesn’t show in the public servers list and the announce server option always resets whenever i go back to minetest. Is it possible if you can make a video about it or to fix the problem?

I am unable to run the minetestserver (or luantiserver) command as it results in an error saying the that minetest server does not exist. I am on windows 11.

Hi I’m trying to do this but when I put the command “sudo systemctl status minetest-server.service” it says this “System has not been booted with systemd as init system (PID 1). Can’t operate.
Failed to connect to bus: Host is down”
