Why Are There No Alligators in Australia?

Today there are two species of alligator - the American alligator and the Chinese alligator. The American alligator is the larger of the two species and is endemic to the southeastern states. The Chinese alligator is listed as critically endangered with only about 300 individuals existing in the wild.
Neither species lives in Australia. Here we ask the question why are there no alligators in Australia?

Salties are enough for Aussie and Southeast Asia

If Alligators occupied Australia, they could probably outcompete the freshwater crocodile but would be outcompeted by the larger saltwater crocodile.
They would find suitable habitat and suitable prey in Australia in the form of feral deer, feral hogs, and probably the occasional human

Alligators aren't as aggressive as salties. Salties would just wipe them out.

Crocodiles can tolerate salt water. Alligators can tolerate colder weather than crocodiles.

I love the way everybody thinks Australia was empty and everything came here. Why is Australia not capable of producing human life or animals that started from here

Why are there only two kinds of alligators? The black caiman of South America looks more like an American alligator than the Chinese alligator does.
