A man who'd been wanted in Atlanta for murder for nearly 28 years was finally caught this week during a routine traffic stop, according to the FBI.

The agency said in a release that Muhammed Bilal El-Amin was captured by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, near Athens, in the course of the traffic stop.

It was not clear how deputies tied El-Amin to the 1994 crime during the traffic stop.

He'd had a FBI reward out for his arrest since the early 2000s, after allegedly shooting a man in the face with a handgun at the Oakland City MARTA station in Atlanta in November 1994.

Telling a cop you're life story to avoid going to jail is always a waste of time no matter what state you live in.

My father got killed in front of me on my 4th birthday back in 98. His case is still unsolved. I’m 28 about to turn 29. I don’t care how long it takes. I hope they find the coward that’s responsible for my father.

If a cop says you're under arrest there is absolutely nothing you can say to stop him/her from taking you.

If I killed someone 30 years ago and never got caught I'd make sure to never break a law again.

He had all those years free. He got raise his son, enjoy time with family, have relationships. Now he will spend the 2nd part of his life in prison and he’s still alive unlike the victim. Prayers to the family of the victim.

Imagine being on the run since 94 for a crime you committed and get booked for a suspended license. DAMN!

*On a positive note.. these cops are very professional.* They're not aggressive, they're not bullying, they are operating by the book. Impressive!

What he's really trying to say is "Please don't arrest me I'm wanted for murder".

He was NOT pleading for his family. He was pleading for his life. He knew what he had done. Scared of those fingerprints .

This guy knew he was wanted for murder yet he's driving on a suspended license? Amazing. Had it been me in his shoes I wouldn't even own a car let alone drive one. I'm flabbergasted that he was able to elude the authorities for almost 3 decades.

Driving under a suspended licence when you're wanted for murder. Genius.

No matter how well he acts today, someone out there is looking for justice for someone they lived that was murdered years ago. You can run from your troubles, but they will always find you one day.

What a bitter-sweet story. For 28 years, this man has lived his best life while the family of Jafferd Tucker had to suffer and his mom died, not ever seeing the man who killed her son being bought to justice. The silver lining here is that I believe we all have a purpose in this life, and those two police officers were put in the right place at the right time to see that Tucker's killer will finally face justice for what he did.

To all these young guys out there reading this, just remember that your actions will follow you for the rest of your life!

We need more officers like them. Calm, composed, no ego or power tripping, no badge heavy cops. Just professionalism all the way.

"Do you hear my tone? 🥺". He's been finessing people for years. I'm glad he was caught. Justice needs to be served.
