The AMG EQS is Mercedes Ultra Premium sedan rivaling all of the top players in the luxury electric market. At nearly $160,000 how does its build quality stack up against something like a Tesla Model S Plaid (an obvious benchmark for Mercedes)?

I personally prefer the non-hyper screen version due to the fingerprints and gloss. Love the drive of the car though.

No rear heated seats? They musta' put all the engineering into the front cup holders and rear seat head pillows.
My car doesn't have 'em either, but it's also about $116, 000 less, so there's that.
As always Coleton, good video.

My old VW golf had a hidden rear camera/handle/emblem. Such a good idea, and a nice feature for $19k car.

Reading these comments is hilarious. This car is super premium in person (and in video). Its stunning and light years better than a Tesla build. Its not even close. Its pure luxury with AMG performance to boot. Its listed at $156k but I bought mine as a dealership manager car with $3k miles on it for $116k. Its amazing.

I like seeing your opinions on the car from a detailer perspective. A point of view most folks don’t think about when buying cars is what will maintaining it look like. Thank you.

No rear heated seats is absolutely insane at that price point. Definitely the place to be at night tho, lights look amazing.

I like that the charging port lid is mechanical and not actuated via electrics—less expense when damaged and not gimmicky. I wonder whether the handles wobble intentionally for frozen weather conditions? These are all over my neighborhood. I’m not keen on the exterior styling and much prefer the one MB showed at the car shows versus this production styling.

$160K for a vehicle whose design looks like it was based on the drawing of 6yo who was told to draw a car.

I have this car. That trunk lid hits the ceiling of most covered or underground car parks. It now has scratches and chips all over the fender.
Also you HAVE to apply leather conditioner every day or so, on the driver seats otherwise it starts to look like crap before you know it.

I just Ordered the EQS. I currently have a Model S. Tesla shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence as this car. The EQS is ridiculously comfortable to drive.

That thing is anything but S class. They skimped a lot on premium materials.

great comprehensive overview on its build quality, surprised the door handles were so wobbly 😳

Ive had an EQS for almost a year. My screen has never looked like that. The nice rear is extra, that is how MB makes ist money....

Taycans range is more than 100 miles shorter. Is does, however, handle as a proper Porsche. Different cars.

It feels like they tried to use premium things but we're forced to go to their general parts bins for too many things. Not my kind of vehicle though at any budget.

When they mess up the back seat that badly it's hard to justify that car over a Taycan Cross Turismo 4S. In my mind the main reason to buy the EQS over the Taycan is you want back seat room and they scuffed it.

Damn it all just looks so cheap … thanks for this

Rear heated seats are optional as well as a lot of other rear interior upgrades and different seats.
