Cheese Wax Candle?

Can it candle? Yes, it can! Kind of. There are definitely better options but this experiment turned out pretty well. I'm looking for more questionable material to try in candle making so if you have any suggestions, let me know in the comments!

I tried this once. It smelled TERRIBLE. I tried again, purifying the wax by melting, skimming, and filtering it. It was better, but basically just pure parabin. I use beeswax in all my candles now.

Babybel cheese wax would be a great way to source wax for wax seals on paper. The red is iconic

When I was in elementary school, I always used to fidget with the remaining wax, and mold different sculptures with them, mainly flowers.

Normal twine doesn't work well because candle wicks are braided and produced in a very specific way. There are two types of wicks round and flat. Flat ones work in both directions, and round ones, on the other hand, only burn well in one specific direction. The way candle wicks are produced makes sure they are resistant against acidity and that they soak up wax very well. Only certain types of cotton are actually used for decent wicks (cotton plants with long fibers). The best results you can get are with 100% cotton wick, which is also the most traditional type of wick.
I am a learned candle maker so I spent a lot of time studying candle production😅

I make wax sculptures out of them. It's like free playdoh that takes a while to warm up in your hands to make it malleable and as a result, when done, it's pretty sturdy!

I'm an art kid that grew up in a household of artists, my mom is actually my highschool art teacher and what she's always done with these cheeses waxes is shaping them into a ball and making small wax sculptures out of them. The last one she made was my grandpa's face and I think that's a pretty cool way to use it cause it lasts forever!

Omg i also did that a few times!! I even sculpted a rose candle, since the wax is red it fit perfectly

When I was a kid we’d save our baby bell wax to mold with. It was a fun time.

Try to reform the melted wax if you do it again, if it works that would be a nice candle

I looked it up before and babybel wax is a mixture of normal wax and an artificial poly-something wax that seems to give it a much lower melting point then regular wax so the only good ways I’ve seen people reuse it is as a way to sculpt an object to make a custom silicone mold.

You apparently can compost it but it takes an extremely long time to break down so it’s not recommended

(There might also be a way to send it back to the company to recycle it but I can’t remember)

So, if you’re like me and see that wax and are like, “I don’t want to just throw it away! I can use it for something.” You really shouldn’t keep it, it’s not worth it

I burn this wax all the time! I play with candles a lot, and this is a great support. And a great wax for impromptu red candles. I find dual paper wicks or thin strips of oiled bamboo works well. (I have bamboo skewere)

I tried collecting as much wax as i could from babybels and i made a masive ball out of it all and i had to throw it away cause my family hated it😂
