Everyone has heard of the Mexican-American War, but have you ever heard of the Battle of Chapultepec? This battle was a part of the greater Battle for Mexico City, where American forces captured Mexico's Chapultepec Castle. The Castle was service as Mexico's military academy at the time, and it was during this battle that six young cadets refused to surrender, and gave their lives fighting for their country.

This is the story Mexico's Boy Heroes.

Another interesting thing about the Battle of Chapultepec is how its very much a part of US Marine Corps culture.. We sung about the battle many times while getting drunk. In the very Marine Corps anthem the begin of the song goes "From the Halls of Montezuma" thats in reference to the battle for Mexico City. ALL Marine non commissioned officers to this very day get a red stripe on the pants because of the great amount of blood spilled by Marines to take that castle in 1847 and its worn forever.

While I dont live in Mexico, my grandparents and most of my extended family do, I went with chapultepec when I was 18 with my family, you can still see where the cannons hit the walls, the bayonet stabs on the floors, bullet holes in the walls, and the blood the staff didnt get to, usually on the backs of the marble statues, its haunting to think of the carnage that ensued that day, even more so when you consider most of that blood was childrens

Hey man, I am Mexican and I have lived in the U.S. since almost 5 years. I consider your channel very interesting and I hope your channel will grow. Now, I’m really glad that you make these videos about Mexican history; my girlfriend is from Russia and sometimes we share some history of our countries, but it is hard to find information about Mexican history in English, which is why your videos help me to spread our history. A topic that you could make a video about would be Las Adelitas from the Mexican Revolution or you could talk about the Cristero War. Keep the hard work man!

Right one about santos Benavides from Laredo Texas, he was the highest ranking Mexican in the confederate army a colonel who fought in the Civil War. I'm from Mexican descent from chihuahua and I find history from this time as well as well what happened in 5 de mayo Maximilian was sending weapons to the confederacy when Mexico intercepted them, and made sure it didn't go to the south, and helped the union army win during 5 de mayo battle, as well after the Civil War ex confederates migrated to Mexico to make a town called carlota and died there defending it, when the Mexican soldiers said leave no prisoners, no bdy of them lived.my life has been here in America all mi Vida. It's interesting we were in both sides north and south of the Civil War. Including many texmex who were in Lee's Texans who were in john bell hoods brigade who fought in bull run to Appomattox court house, as well as avegno Louisiana zouaves who were part of wheats tigers unit as well as many in California union units who fought in New Mexico where I live such as Valverde..well thanks Dan Aguilar

Chapultepec hill? Doesn’t Chapultepec mean grasshopper hill in Nahuatl? So isn’t that like saying grasshopper hill hill? — Miles Morales

Very interestinh bring up Mexico's soldier count. I never knew they had more soldiers than the U.S. but lost due to internal politics. Most Americans talk about winning the Mexican American war due to racial and military "superiority" 😒
