When FURA Gems announced its historic uncovering of the world’s largest gem-quality ruby ever discovered in September 2022, the news dominated headlines the world over, prompting tremendous excitement and taking the gemstone market by storm. Unearthed from FURA’s ruby mine in Montepeuz, Mozambique in July of 2022, the gemstone – weighing an astonishing 101 carats – was subsequently named Estrela de FURA (Star of FURA in Portuguese), in a nod to its outstanding depth of color and size, and to shine a spotlight on Mozambique as a rich source of premium quality rubies. Even in its rough, untouched state, Estrela de FURA was considered by experts as an exceptional treasure of nature for its fluorescence, outstanding clarity and vivid red hue, known as ‘pigeon’s blood’ - a color traditionally associated only with Burmese rubies. The Estrela De Fura Ruby will be part of Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels sale, 8 June 2023 in New York.

Rubies historically have been more sought after than diamonds. Magical. Beautiful. Gems of fire :)

I think a video of such a stone and such a reputable auction house deserves a 4K video

In the description you say it is "Pigeon's blood". Please can you tell us which gemology lab gave this classification?

#EstrelaDeFura✨❤️✨is the largest gem quality ruby✨❤️✨to be offered at auction. It is of Mozambique origin and possess a pigeon blood red color and reddish fluorescence that are characteristics of the finest rubies from Myanmar formerky known as Burma. Still major gem labs will not grade it as 'pigeon blood red' because to be considered as such the ruby✨🌹✨must come from Myanmar with trace elements that is usually almost exclusively found in the mining areas of Myanmar.

This Estrela de Fura✨❤️✨at 55 22 carats is small compared to the largest #whitediamond✨💎✨ever sold at auction weighing over 223 carats. And there's a scientific explanation to that because the element 'chromium that makes rubies✨🌹✨red are also growth inhibitors that is why large rubies✨🌹✨of fine color are very rare.
