Hi Mr Grumpy. Thanks for the review. I cannot find the reference to the 2.5ghz only wifi connection. I have had a xiaomi router extender that only functioned on the 2.5 and bought a different one, also xiaomi that does work on 5ghz. So it is easy to accept that they would produce a device limited to 2.5ghz but why? Is it only the wifi cloud that will not function on the 5ghz? If I plug the gateway directly, by wire, to the router does that resolve the 2.5ghz/5ghz problem? Except for that this seems a great choice. Thanks.

When im connecting it to charger the camera starting to work, but whe im unplugging the charger its turning off immediately, like the battery is not working at all.

Hi Mr Grumpy. I finally got the EC2 to work. The 2.4 GHz is on my router so that was OK. But the Xiaomi home would not connect to my Moto G phone or my Samsung S8. I finally got a samsung 7 to work after reinstalling the app but playstore said my phone was not compatible with the app. I installed an older version from 'uptown' site and then I think it updated itself. The password issue is confusing and it is the router password that must be entered when searching for the gateway not the app password. I never did get it to connect direct from the wifi as suggested. The camera took more than 5 minutes to be recognized. The process was not easy and it took many hours to finally get it done. The product is great but their software sucks. Thanks for your earlier reply.

Good review but in reality it is a very bad camera. Stay away. I am getting a motion detection every minute until the battery dies.
