I feel like the US should hack one of those missiles and fire it back to where it came from. Just auto divert it as soon as it launches

SM-6 doesn't have a kinetic energy interceptor. It has to intercept missile within the atmosphere (much lower attitude than sm-3) using high-explosive fragmentation warheads, which is not very effective against ballistic missile targets. It only gives the Navy one more layer of defense against ballistic missiles, but it is primarily used against aerodynamic targets such as aircraft or cruise missiles.
