I second the ink test. I collect all kinds of ink at the moment and found out my Sailor ink seems a little too thin that it doesn't stay on the glass nib as long as Diamine, Ferris Wheel Press, or Rohrer & Klinger inks. I wanted an easier way to change inks (as you mentioned) that was not as thin as a comic nib. It was surprisingly fun to test inks (which was my doom into a new hobby).

I've found that wiping the nib down with alcohol works better than using water. It's better at removing oils AND ink residue.

If the tip of the pen IS chipped, or rough (which can tear the paper), you CAN restore it as long as it isn't too bad. I personally use 3M Tri-M-ITE Wet Dry Polishing Paper in 1, 200 grit (light blue). Polish the tip until it's smooth to the touch. If you want the tip to write more finely, make sure that you polish the sides of the tip so the tip itself is narrower... but not so much that you lose the ribs.

thank you I’ve always really suck at hand writing and never give it a chance. Tell my wife suggested it and I still suck it in writing but I couldn’t get my ink pen to write and it’s a good one and now I can after watching this tutorial thank you very much. I have tutorials if you ever wanna watch about the learning how to throw a knife lol.

So I really need help! I bought a new glass dip pen (the one with a longer nip) and accidentally chipped the tip of it. Do I sand it down or something? I would really appreciate some advice.

As I only received my first one yesterday, I have a question about the tip of the pen. Is it smooth? I received a piece of sandpaper in my box and the tip seems to scratch the paper, if I rotate the tip it is better. Is this normal?
