For a driver like this, I'd like to see Rick bring in a high handicapper and do a direct comparison between this and whatever their current driver is. Side by side simulator data would be interesting to look at, especially if they're using something 3+ years old.

As someone who works in the industry and is privy to new club info. There are 10.5 and 12 degree options for the g430 max 10k. However when then demos were sent out for testing, only the 9 degree was available. So Rick could easily do a follow up video regarding adding more loft. All the way up to 13.5 if he wanted.

I also have tested all the new driver heads for this year and the Ping was far and away the winner. I'm a bogey golfer who normally hits my drives 240 plus but I was getting 5-8 yards more with the lower spin on the 10k. Only 2 drivers that came close to adding that much distance were the Qi10 LS model and the Cobra Darkspeed X. But neither was as forgiving or straight.

The claims for 10k MOI are on off center hits with a perfect swing path. So if your swing path is 0 but you hit it 5cm out of the toe, it doesn’t twist as much at impact which helps the ball go straighter. But if you have an out to in swing path of 5 degrees and a face angle of 0, you will still slice it.

Did my fitting and compared it to my G430 Max, the 10k was def more forgiving on mishits and I didnt lose as much distance with the 10k compared to the Max. The distance was about the same, I was getting a bit more distance with the 10k due to the roll out. I ended up ordering one because the numbers were just way too good for my swing.

Great review, Rick!

Rick, you are clearly a well experienced and low handicap golfer, unlike some of us who follow you. So why not as a video trial, get 2 or 3 off the street golfers say 22+ handicappers, and get them to test the driver? That way we can see a more realistic result from acclaimed marketing by PING and other manufacturers, that make these somewhat unrealistic claims about their products.

For your forgiveness test, in my opinion it would make so much more sense to focus on toe/heel strikes with a neutral path on the launch monitor rather than just hitting towards a fairway and seeing what happens. Like you said, user error comes into play and the driver can only do what it's told.

I picked up the G425Max about a month ago, have played maybe 8 rounds with it, and it has drastically changed my game. I went from spinny sliced 180 drives to 220-240 down the middle. Ping makes amazing woods and the 3 wood will be my next purchase after I pumped my friends 3 wood 210 off the fairway. Not bad for a old man, not really (45), with 2 bad hips.

Hi Rick. Just a thought. Maybe if you want to really have 'forgiveness' test, you can invite any 24 handicapper who is slicing the driver to test out these new the driver. Then we can see is there any difference 😂

Gimme that thing, I'll show you a slice that would shut down PING😂

I showed my Dad these videos last year and he ended up getting fitted for the Ping because of your influence and I’ve never seen him so solid with his driver. All I needed to see to know that you know what you’re doing here lol

I’m glad companies are actually making advancements in performance and not their marketing team

I have been using a G425 Max and absolutely love it. I am sure this is also great. This is expensive but I have seen that Ping’s are normally worth it

Wow I am actually surprised after watching this. I have a G430 currently and I love it, granted to get the forgiveness I wanted I had to turn the loft up to 10.5°. I really was expecting this new G430 to do way better. With that price tag to I think I’d lead more towards the Qi10. Excited to watch the full comparison video with all the new drivers.

😊improving balance through your swing is just as effective for the average player. After watching Rick's video with Bryson (increasing ball speed) the huge thing I learnt from that video was Bryson pushing off his right foot (ball of his foot) towards his left heel unleashing all that speed with perfect balance. I went to the range and with my G425 max went to work on Bryson's foot balance. It works! I played a few days later at my local course and hit bomb after bomb. A high degree of straightness and 30-40 yards longer. The driver forgivness played its part when 1 came off the heel and another off the toe, shot right and left 50 yards off centre line but much better than bad misses with my "old" swing foot balance. I reckon the effect of pushing off my right foot base of toes towards left heel reduces the chance of my torso either falling forward or backwards to the ball and thereby a greater chance of finding the sweet spot on the driver face. So, balance first, club forgiveness second. Rick, will you be doing a follow up video on your ball speed to show your progress after your lesson with Bryson? ❤

The price hurts to look at, but Ping knows that they are ahead of the others in terms of forgiveness. I would love to have this driver in my bag.

My 16yr old son recently picked up this driver in a PING tour Chrome 2.0 stiff shaft and it’s made a ton of difference in his confidence from the tee. The weight is currently setting in the Draw setting and seems to have made all the difference.

love Ping drivers, hard to change from my 425 though!

Great review Rick! Good to see manufacturers realising that keeping the ball on the fairway is as important as distance.

Just got mine last week. Best driver I’ve ever hit by a mile. Happen to answer any questions for anyone interested (6 handicap, 285 avg distance).

I love how with all the newer and creative head designs. Ping always goes back to black heads. I think it looks the best.
