Lecture Notes:
Every noun has gender, Masculine or Feminine.
Gender of nouns don't change
Articles, adjective, verbs change according to the gender of the noun.
In most of the cases, a noun ending in -o is masculine, a noun ending in -a is feminine.
Tips: Learn Nouns/vocabulary with articles.
Good Luck

Another useful piece of information I've learned is that most words ending in [-zione] or [-sione] are feminine (una conversazione, la versione), and that most nouns ending in consonants are masculine (un film, un bar, un computer). Thank you for this course!

My first language is spanish and finding this course is amazing! It is so much easier to learn italian as a spanish speaker because the articles, vowels, gender and words are either the same or kind of the same. I will absolute keep continue learning with you and the courses you offer!!!

I never thought I would enjoy learning a new language as much as I do with your lessons Manu! I love starting with the principles, it feels really empowering to know after my first lesson that I can read a menu out loud with correct pronunciation. And to know the tricks of determining gender both from the endings of the word or listening to the sentence in which they're used. Really looking forward to the rest, just wish I'd started this a month ago, not 4 days before my trip to Italy 🙃🙄(And anyway, I'm enjoying this so much I think I'll keep going after my holiday.)

I’m glad you said there’s no reason a word is feminine or it just is. I was stuck on that and couldn’t find an answer. Thank you.

Manu this is awesome! I am English speaking but also Spanish and it’s so interesting that 99% of the words in Spanish that are feminine or masculine are the same gender in Italian and questa or questo is the same as esta or este to determine gender. Grazie Millie!

Thank you Thank you. I am going to Sardinia with friends in December and so far I have grasped the vowels which is a huge breakthrough. I have been in Italy many times and this is the first time I decided to try and figure out the basic to see if I could manage the language even if it is just a small introduction. So your videos really have me interested in trying to understand this beautiful language. So thank you! Cheers from Toronto
