I dont know when this was filmed, but Roku recently added a free Live TV service to the Roku Channel.

Locast literally just added Miami and West Palm Beach either yesterday or today, bumping the total markets up by two and basically tripling the number of homes in total.

Haven't had live tv except locals in years. Have hulu, netflix, amazon prime and use pluto tv a lot.

Philo at $20/month is a great alternative streaming TV service for those that like cable channels but don’t care about news and sports. It’s not as popular as Hulu or YouTube TV, but is growing. As you’ve mentioned in a previous video, live tv is dying. That is why the traditional cable tv providers are dropping big, clunky cable boxes in favor of putting an app on Fire TVs, Rokus, etc. (for those few that won’t drop the old school cable whatsoever)

Possibly others before me may have mentioned Philo TV, which is $20 a month for 60 channels, a portion of those being Viacom networks.

YouTube tv also has local channels too plus the dvr services are unlimited and it has on demand services too. You also can have up to 6 devices on at the same time.

One of the things I never hear Youtubers mention is that you don't have to pick a blue or orange package with SlingTV. You can get some of the add ons À la carte to compliment some on-demand services. I set up a friend with the South American and Caribbean channels without the base orange or blue channels. He pays only $15 a month. Then I added 2 screen Netflix and HBO to his package. He is still under 50 dollars a month. Plus I helped install a roof antenna for locals. So he gets the latest entertainment from HBO and Netflix, tv from his home country and locals.

Seriously considered changing over to Hulu live from YTTV after the price hike but I HATE watching commercials so I would need the decent DVR that lets you skip them and with that the price is basically the same so might as well stay with what I have

So what makes YouTube TV worth the $65 over the starting $60 price on FuboTV? Just curious since YouTube TV’s starting price is now more expensive than FuboTV’s basic plan even with the $5 hike coming in August.

Personally we prefer YTTV over HULU, though we also have HULU Premium along with about a dozen other streaming services. Our cable including phone lines and ISP was over $360/mo, there's no doubt we have more now but at a fraction of the price.

If you live outside of a Locast area, you can still access the content using a combination of a VPN and a Chrome extension like Location Guard -- NordVPN allows me to specify a Chicago region IP address, and Location Guard allows me to set a fake Chicago geolocation address. Worked like a charm.

What version of Pluto is that with the nice full screen guide? Using the Invidia shield version and it's too blocky and also XUN O is a freebie.

3 options not discussed:

1. Every sports fan should look at Vidgo. Every major sports channel for $40/month. 3 Streams.

2. Philo TV for people who do not like sports or cable news and are willing to get locals via an antenna. $20/month for 3 streams and an unlimited DVR.

3. If hallmark and the weather channel are your thing you should look at frndly TV for $6/month.

By the time you add all the a la cart channels that we love, I can get the normal cable and everything else.

What there needs to is a streaming service that offers all the cable tv channels and you pick each one you want individually, and each can set their own price (hopefully only pennies each or a few dollars.. .. and lets say if you pick a certain number of channels you get a discount. and the more you pick another discount.. There are some channels in bundles I could careless about and others I wish they had.. and it might only be 1-2 more networks I wish I had but its not with the jump in price. I would think the networks would fight for you to pick theirs over the other and that would cause the price to be less per network channel picked. Because there may only be 30 cable network channels I would typicality watch besides netflix ect.

Hulu Live buffered too much for me... My clear pick is Sling Orange +

We watch mostly reruns as noise in the evening. Most of the stuff we watch we can get free. I never heard of Locast and I am just outside of Charlotte and that is one of the markets they cover so I can stream the local news when reception is poor over the air

the whole idea for cutting the cord was to save money. I don't want to channel my money from one cable company to a bunch of small streaming services. There's got to be a way of enjoying it without all that. Oh yeah you know I could just stop watching all the crap I used to pay to watch. The regular 8 or $13 Hulu package you can watch most shows the next dayafter they are shown on regular TV which works just fine for me I don't mind waiting 24 hours.and then you know there were other ways of streaming that I won't mention
