Join an online conversation with historian Jacob Bloomfield, delving into some of the rich material within the James Gardiner Collection, which includes postcards and photographs exploring gender and sexuality in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Jacob will discuss his new book, ‘Drag: A British History’, and talk about the sustained popularity and changing forms of male drag performance in modern Britain. He will show how drag artists, including those who feature in the James Gardiner Collection, have consistently been some of the most significant entertainers of their day.

This event will be facilitated by Leila Sellers, a Wellcome-funded PhD candidate at Birkbeck, University of London, and there’ll be a chance to ask questions during a Q&A at the end.

It will take place on our YouTube channel, and a recording will be available afterwards.
