Also .. if you look at the petrol pump symbol on your car's dashboard there is an arrow to remind you what side of the car your petrol cap is on.

1) Gasoline does not corrode paint, but yes use the gas cap hanger if possible.
2) Check engine light could be caused by loose gas cap, but not always
3) Water cannot enter the tank from the filler compartment as long as the gas cap installed correctly.

I love helpful tips being narrated in the same style as the original Godzilla movies 😂

The drain tube does not fill up your tank with water, vents to the outside and usually on the tire below it.

I like how they threw dirt into the gas cap of a brand new car just for demonstration purposes

Actually this is correct in older cars the cap used to have a pressure hole that hole is the drain so water does not collect around the too of the fuel tank.

I'm still excited that they attatched the cap to the car. Because I'm old enough to remember you place the cap on top of the trunk. To then forget about it and drive away, leaving you with no cap.

clean the little drainage hole regularly so water doesn't enter? yeah that makes so much sense.

When the guy says "secondly" he quickly gave you the finger. The drain hole is made very small for a reason. Have you figured it out yet ? When you put the cap in the "hole" the gas will just drip onto the fender in a different place. Gasoline does not "corrode" paint. It will evaporate before anything happens. Ever seen a car with a big rust spot under the gas cap ? I haven't !

the drain is Not for Water, it is for accidental spills when filling tank, allowing drainage away from the car paint, which you prevented on the first step...

On a side note, on cold dry days, you should touch your vehicle body (something metal) to discharge any static electricity. This will keep the gasoline from igniting while you gas up.

Newer cars are going to capless tanks. This is a lifesaver, because no more lost gas caps

When warning icons on your dash light up, be wary of its color - orange, means for you to attend to this soon, while if red is to attend to this immediately. Validate these by reading your car manual. In fact you must read through it to familiarize yourself with your car's features.

That is a weep hole to drain any water that accumulates in the "well" that the gas cap sits in, helping to prevent rust in said well. No water going into that hole is going to enter the gas tank, it is just going to drain out on the ground.

#5... Don't open/remove your gas cap while the car is running... that can, not always, but can, trigger an engine fault to the computer...
