You can say what you want about this final but you can’t say it was a weak field without lying through your teeth. You can’t blame Centrowitz for everyone else’s tactics. He ran his race, at any point in time someone could’ve gone around him in the first 800 meters and pushed the pace. Don’t let the running media downplay this victory.

2016: Why? WHY?
2024: Oh, that's why.

The family celebration at the end, especially the kid in the white tshirt, is epic.

Centros dad saying “that’s my son” at 4:10

Compare that to Paris 2024, that will never happen again. Speaking of the early slow pace that even a high schooler would’ve kept up, and I’m talking about very average high schoolers, not the state champions

Wow this race was so slow, 3:50? In today's final everyone in the top 3 ran a 3:27, what a difference

i didn't know makhloufi was this solid. i mean even in the 2012 olympics he got a gold medal in 1500

Think this was the biggest jog fest I’ve ever seen

And this race is an excellent example of why you don’t want a slow/ tactical race. Because someone like Centrowitz will win 😅

The last lap at 50 flat was the difference, but by comparison, these times would not even be in the top ten today.

For the people always moaning like little bitches about the slow time, a lesson -> it's not a time trial, it's a championship race. There is no pacing, each runner needs to know every other runner's style and form, and tactics count. Some finals are fast, some aren't, but the winner is always a champion. A club runner might be able to run a 3:50, but only a handful of guys in the world could split it like that

3:50? Wtf is this lol. This is high school level pace.

Amazingly slow race. I don't blame Centrowitz for the early jog if others weren't pushing the pace, but for the viewer, a 3:50 1500 is not the most exciting one.
