Disc / Wheel Rolling down Inclined Plane (Mechanics Problem)

preview_player
Показать описание
A Disc / Wheel / Cylinder is rolling down an Inclined plane (or Hill) without slipping. The angle of inclination is theta. Find its acceleration.

In this video I solve the above problem using Newton's Laws.

For bicycle's rear wheel we take frictional force in forward direction itself i.e. the direction in which cycle is translating, but here we are taking it in opposite direction...can u please explain it why?? Please!

When would one use f=N*f_k instead of the one you used and why. Is it only for linear motion without rotation.

Can u tell you.. Frcition is in opposite direction to motion.. Cuz in rolling motion friction is in the direction of motion ri8..

Thanks, Sir
Do you have a MSc or a PhD in Physics?
It looks like.
Quite smart guy.

Dear sir, with due respect, the logic of deciding the direction of friction seems faulty. By extending this logic to a cylinder rolling up the incline, the friction should act down the incline, whereas it actually still acts up the incline. In my humble opinion, this will create more conceptual problems for students than resolve it.
