Regardless of whatever you "feel" is a binge, it doesn't negate the fact that you don't get to 500+ pounds without a very disordered relationship with food. Semantics don't matter.

Girl they’re making you wait a year for your own safety.. they’re not doing it to be mean. Clearly if they thought you could handle the surgery right this second then you would’ve been approved. But that’s not the case. Take it as it is and get yourself together this next year, you’ll be 100x more successful after surgery that way. Also food addiction (overeating) is still an eating disorder. You can try to downplay it all you want and say it’s not binging. But the reality of it is, you STILL have food issues. Whatever you label it

This is the consequences of Amerberlynn diagnosing herself with every mental condition under the sun, running to the Dr to get that diagnosis, only to backtrack later when the diagnosis doesn’t fit her narrative. She said for years that she has “binge eating disorder” and now doesn’t because she wants surgery. It’s annoying.

Why is it so hard not to binge for a year, especially for someone who claims they no longer binge

Amber- if you don’t binge, going a year without binging shouldn’t be hard. Either way, you overeat to the point of being sick, and if you do that after receiving WLS, it could be detrimental. The doctors wanting to address your eating issues shouldn’t be a surprise, and I’d guess any other program would make you do the same thing.

Amber is really here at 500lbs telling us she has "large stomach" and "portion control" issues, rather than serious mental health issue where she uses food to cope emotionally. This is like an an alcoholic trying to enter rehab without committing to be sober, that they drink just like everyone else but just more, and all they need is a magic pill to stop them, without doing any emotional work.

Amber I think the doctors that do this every day know more than your friends on the internet

What you’re missing is that binging, like most things, falls on a spectrum. Binging ranges from just eating 2-3x what the average person eats in a sitting to eating everything in sight like condiments. You ARE binging by definition. It’s not 2-3x what YOU normally eat, it’s 2-3x a normal intake for the average person at any given time. You are absolutely binging (2-3x normal caloric intake) if you are maintaining your BMI, which you are. And that’s ok. It’s ok to have problems and not be perfect. But you won’t ever get past this and get approved until you truly accept it and work on it.

you weren’t misdiagnosed with BED you specifically told the psychologist what they needed to hear to get a certain diagnosis. it’s called manipulation.

"this is the strangest thing they've ever heard"

Yeah, so strange for doctors to prolong surgery for patients who are not MENTALLY and PHYSICALLY safe to go through the procedure at this time.

Crazy. Bad

What should be happening: “I’m gonna follow their instructions, follow the dietitian’s plan, take my vitamins, stay hydrated, go outside and exercise/walk.

Reality: “I never had BED, this surgeon won’t give me what I want, I’m gonna possibly find a new program, I’m listening to people who got WLS faster”

You've never gotten the urge to binge on condiments because you always have access to junk food. You either keep your cabinets stocked or you will order food delivery. Either way, you have whatever food you want always at your fingertips. People who binge on condiment packets likely don't have anything else available in that moment.

The comment about making a drug addict wait for rehab…no girl!! You are ACTIVELY rn being asked to do the “REHAB” for your food addiction! Theyre telling you to prioritize figuring out your addiction so that it doesn’t jeopardize your surgery!!!

Do you think that WLS is going to cure your food addiction? Even after surgery, you can eat junk in small amounts all day. Some people get the surgery, lose 50-100lbs, and then gain it back because they haven't dealt with the addiction. The clinic is trying to get you to fix that first so you don't get the surgery thinking that it will solve your problem.

Omg, if you don't binge, just don't binge for a year. What's the problem???

Comparing waiting a year to get surgery to “waiting a year to get into rehab” is where ya lost me.

Rehab is the work you do comparable to working through your food addiction issues. Getting yourself sober. Not even slightly comparable to getting a surgery that will kill you if you fall back into your addiction immediately after.

That was too much dude. That comparison was ridiculous.

You love the diagnosis when it benefits your narrative at the time.

Can you show us your DM's? Not a single person told you that you can get the surgery in 3 to 4 months. There's just no way. Whenever you need to prove us wrong, you suddenly get friends out of no where and fans that DM you whatever YOU want to hear or prove. Make it make sense!

I'm old enough to remember you talking about binging so much not too long ago that it made you throw up, gave you gall stone attacks and that you ended up writing a letter to your girlfriend about it. That was less than a year ago. If you don't really binge, what happened then?

with all due love and respect, the surgery is not rehab. rehab is rehab. if you feel like you have no control over your eating or exercise, get help. this surgery will not cure your love for junk food, or your aversion to exercise. i know you can succeed and i’m rooting for you! eat a normal amount of calories in a day (eating fresh and balanced foods) and exercise every day, go for a walk around town! or get a treadmill and walk an hour on it every day. i wish you love and healing!
