Jeremy Corbyn Suspended From Labour Party

Jeremy Corbyn has been suspended from the Labour Party, the party that he has been a member of since 1983 and has lead until recently. Some will see this as an attempt by the moderates in the party to remove all remnants of Corbynism and weaken the left wing of the party.

CORRECTION. He was not suspended for underplaying anti-Semitism whilst leader as you stated, he was suspended for stating that the scale of anti-Semitism in the party had been "dramatically overstated for political reasons". He was asked to withdraw this statement by Starmer and refused.

Well Corbyn was a socialist, you can't have that in the labour party now can you.

(This is sarcasm for the hard of thinking)

A lot of idiots will now claim he is a racist, to be honest i feel sad for him, he has worked hard to do good for many years and deserves better, ok he could have done more but so could all of us.

How can he have instantaneously been involved in updating and streamlining the disciplinary process for dealing with antisemitism and other forms of racism and been making light of antisemitism?

His comment was that the problem was “dramatically overstated for political reasons” by opponents and the media. Which is entirely correct; yes there is antisemitism in Labour but it is a *very* small amount of the party, less than 1%.

Has antisemitism been an issue during Corbyn's leadership? Yes, but only insomuch as it was identified as a useful issue to criticise him on; there was no increase in incidents directly linked to his being in leadership; only increase in reports - many of which were lodged by a handful of individuals with strong anti-Corbyn sentiments.

Max, please don't call these people 'centrists' most of them were Tory wets that moved to New Labour. They're all right of centre. Those of us who were around before 1997 know that Labour took a step over the middle line back then and it drew the definition of 'Left' sideways. The media have spent the last half decade referring to Corbyn; a moderate socialist as a 'Marxist', 'Communist', 'Trotskyite' and worse because this nation's political compass has skewed to the right. The far right of the PLP isn't centrist; it's a bunch of neoliberal capitalists who want their own way, despite the outcomes of democracy, and have done everything in their power to drag an honest and honourable politician through the dirt to achieve this.

My understanding of Corbyn’s anti-semitism is his sympathy with the Palestinians. If so, is that really so bad? The Israelis are very powerful in London and elsewhere.

Absolutely disgusted and have today left the Labour Party. What a shame that Starmer doesn't attack Johnson and the Tories with such vitriol.

Far left? The last manifesto was very moderate and very similar to the Liberals.

It would seem that the labour party has hit a new low.

Why are they still calling it the Labour.

'Far Left'? Why not just 'left'? This is lazy rhetoric to rouse the idea of 'extremism' and dangerously playing into conventional centrist narratives. Centre = middle = non-extremist. Also using these terms offers a singular, all encompassing picture whereas each party has left-wing and right-wing policies/ideas. Blaire (the great centrist idol) was far-right in foreign policy with some left-leaning social policies. Words matter. Labels matter. Please do better to use more accurate terms. It makes videos less 'clean' but makes them more useful.

I watched the 4 part Aljazeera undercover investigation on The Lobby some time back.. It revealed Israeli interference in British politics targeting any politician supporting justice for the Palestinians. The exposure resulted in an apology from the Israeli Embassy and the removal of the officer depicted in the series from the Embassy back to Israel. Corbyn was one of the MPs asking for an investigation into what amounted to an interference in our democracy. For Johnson, who was Minister of Foreign Affairs at the time, no investigation was needed and an apology sufficed. In other words, he didn't want an investigation and the matter was shoved under the carpet. So the question now is was such interference along with its collaborators within the LP allowed to continue? Looks like it was.

British politics is now well and truly fucked.

It's weird - the UK equivalent of "far left" is the rest of Europe's centre or only very slightly left of centre.

This is because a report today said that there was "unlawful harassment and discrimination" not by Corbyn but by the leadership team whilst Corbyn was in power.

The word "unlawful" is very important because solicitors and barrister take an oath towards the crown. So if there is anything unlawful going on anywhere they have to report it. For example if you're arrested and tell your solicitor that you did it, then your solicitor is duty bound to report you.

When Corbyn started as leader his cabinet included his political adversaries in Labour, for example Kier Starmer, who is a barrister.

If there had anything unlawful going on and Kier Starmer know about it then he would be duty bound to report Corbyn to the authorities. And not just duty bound Starmer was in the group of MP's who stabbed Corbyn in the back just before the 2017, so Starmer would have been very motivated to report Corbyn.

So if this report is to be believed then Starmer should explain why he is in breach of his oath to report this unlawful activities, or he is not going to be a barrister any more.
