Another excellent tutorial Jim. I am quite conversant with the masking brush and use it all the time, but you taught me something here!!! I always wondered why you couldn't mask when using the "Light Tool" and it was so annoying!! - now I know you have to create a layer and then open it on there - thanks for that!!!

Thanks Jim for doing the videos for L4. I'm a long time Luminar user and it helps to review the things we think we're experts on and the changes in L4. Looking forward to future topics.

Great overview of the brush masking tool, Jim. I think a selection tool would be a great addition to Luminar to select areas to use as a mask. Until we get that, I will use the tips that you have shown us to refine our brushing. Really enjoying your Luminar 4 video series.

I’ve used masking quite a bit both locally and universally. However, I didn’t realize I could draw a straight line a la photoshop when masking. Thank you for the thorough explanation. Look forward to the next 3 vids.

Hi Jim, As a newbe to L4 could I ask you to slow down a fraction when clicking on the icons as sometimes you are in a new mode without knowing how you changed. Excellent training videos I am working through the whole series which is great for the brain cells and good fun - thanks. Mike Clarke. Scotland.

Suggestion for future tutorial. Adjustment Sync tool. This gets interesting when original image has masking and layers in it.

nice tuto. skylum support told me on "feature request forum" we can paint vibrance, expo, ... in paint mode with the brush, like lightroom. have you seen such feature ?
best would be to add lightroom sliders to the dodge and burn filter and also to the graduated and radial filters. DB is not only exposure but also temp, tint, structure, ...

Great tutorials....new to luminar4...any idea how you might take a subject out of a photo and place it onto a coloured plain background?

Here's a quick one jim. How do u move the mask? I tried hundreds of times! You have a building picture & you want to add a part of another photo etc a sign to that building. How do you mask it in & move it into

That shift key tip is fantastic! Unfortunately I just tried it and I don't think it works on windows. 😭😭😭 The masking tool is fantastic to have but it's also so incredibly tedious if you want/need to be precise... Just yesterday I spent like a half hour masking in a building just to bump up the exposure on it a bit lol. But maybe I'm just to obsessive over getting the mask just perfect haha. 😂 Edge detection would be incredibly helpful, and I find it surprising that the editor that's "built on AI" lacks it.

Many thanks, Jim .... highly useful, as always. Unfortunately, the click-shift key-click ability for making a straight masking line is not available for Windows :(
