Amazon's Shipping Disaster! - $2,000 EMPTY Package!

I ordered from Amazon and got an empty box from the Google Pixel Fold. Here is the situation.

Here's where you made a mistake: You kept telling them "my package did not arrive", when what you should have told them was, "the item I ordered appears to have been stolen from the package". A grand larceny report should have also been filed, and the case number given to Amazon, as well. Glad to hear you got your refund, though.

Amazon makes it really hard to get a hold of a real person customer service. And when you do get a person, it's someone from another country and doesn't always have the ability to answer all questions and concerns, they read from a scripts.

This video gives me PTSD of my experience. There is no trail of communication, if they say they'll call you back, they never will. Everyday I called them I talk to 3 totally new people who I have to explain my issue to again. The Amazon staff are usually empathetic but powerless. What you could have done is ask for compensation on every call. They can give you £50 gift card, and then for each subsequent compensation it gets less and less and less (even though the experience gets worse lol).
Needless to say, I'm never ordering something of significant value from Amazon ever again.

Youre not the only one, bro. I have had to deal with this as well. It is getting to the point that these websites have NO WAY to contact them. Not by phone, not by email.

Pretty soon everything will just be automated. What a nightmare.

In India, we have another delivery company called flipkart which has an open box delivery option for high value items. What they do is that they open the box in front of you at delivery time and you get to check the item. If it's not proper in any way you can return it on the spot and they will process your refund or replacement. That's an option that Amazon can offer for higher value items.

My pressure went up watching this. Being sent on wild goose chases and then having to deal with reps that I can barely understand would've had me livid. At least you got your money back after all the hurdles.

I had this happen to me, an electric wine opener, sent an empty package. Apparently it happens so often that is one of the selections when writing a complaint to Amazon “Box was empty”. Fortunately for us there were no additional questions asked they just made it right.

High priced item I open right on the ring cam as a ritual 😂.This is very common and I got burned a few times. Luxury watches and cell phones. Glad it worked out.

Whew!! What an ordeal! I may be overly paranoid, but I buy all of my electronics from Best Buy or other stores…never Amazon, for this very reason. Sorry you had to go through this Dayo! Why would you tell them you "received" a missing package?
The whole situation is rather ridiculous to me and Amazon seem to have no interest in getting to the root of the issue. I am glad you seem to be getting some sort of resolution.

so a bit of perspective from someone who has worked in amazon for 2-4 years in the inventory control dept for a warehouse, amazon processes this to a team that investigates lost or stolen items which they may have found evidence within the company which is probably why you didnt need to provide it on your end. this is process is very thorough, and if they find someone internally or figure out what happened since these thefts usually happen to not just one product to even checking in with couriers. Amazon is dept hell even when you work there but they do things with the best level of caution to get things right.

My suggestion is that amazon should equip their vans with a mobile Xray scanner for high-value goods. This would allow them to verify the internal condition of the packages before and after shipping.

You got your money immediately because others have complained about their deliveries and Amazon realizes there's an issue with the seller.
Sometimes, they will even place a notice on the seller's page that there werer numerous issues with the seller and advice caution or suspend orders for the product.

happened to me in 2019. Ordered a Laptop and it was empty. Luckily someone at Amazon noticed the weight was too low and made it right.

Definitely someone at the warehouse also amazon drivers dislike delivering to Arlington apartments, If you live in the Arlington area, especially Crystal City Arlington, opt for an Amazon locker. That way, you don't miss your packages, especially if your apartment doesn't have a concierge and it requires some sort of a code or buzzer to access! Thanks for the video. This happened to my customer. They brought me computer parts so I can put a computer together for them and when I opened the Samsung 990 Pro solid-state Drive, it was empty.
The good thing is that I got the entire thing on camera

I had an empty box arrive with no phone years ago. Luckily the UPS driver reported the package as tampered, or the phone agent said I would have been SOL. You can also have them check the weight of the package. I ordered from Amazon and the delivery weight was 2 pounds. The shipping weight was 1 pound, as there was only one of two items. Easy proof. Congrats on getting the refund though.
