Thank you for this - you saved my sanity. The only difference was on my Maytag Performa, it needed a 1/2" socket.

Very simple repair, anyone with average mechanical skills can do it easily and save the cost of a service call for this very simple repair. Note that sometimes the upper part and lower stick together, mine did, just sat it on the floor, put your feet on the bottom part and pull.

Mr. Steve I have a question. I have replaced my dogs in the agitator and now I’m having a problem getting the auger to fit on the base. Is there anything you would recommend I do?

My agitator on a GE washer completely detatched during the spin cycle.  I'd never seen this happen before.  Likely causes? Your thoughts.

When i took off the inner cap, I found that the four tabs on the cam were so worn down they looked broken. I'm hoping that is why it isn't working properly.

I performed this procedure, but for my surprise there is no agitator cogs? Is it normal? My washer is Whirpool model LSR9434PT0. Or can this part disintegrate over time?
Thank you
Thank you

How can I stop the agitator from spinning while I’m trying to loosen the 7/16 bolt with my ratchet ??!!! What can I use to lock it? My one free hand isn’t strong enough! And I’m afraid the agitator fins will break! Please help!!!

I've replaced the dogs. Still doesn't work right, it appears that the teeth in the outer ring in the agitator itself are worn down. How do I fix that?
