If you remember the Pythaeoragean theorem and look for what leg the square root can form. The triangle helps determine the u values and what you want to use (whether that is sine, tangent or secant). That same triangle turns your x's to thetas, and then again your theta's back to x's. I hated Trig Sub in school and then someone explained it better to me knowing basic Trig with SOACOATOA.
