Brought home a 2025 Santa Fe AWD Hybrid Calligraphy yesterday. What a vehicle. Retiring next year and plan on doing a lot of traveling.

I absolutely love my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, all-wheel-drive SEL hybrid! It was the best choice especially for the price! I couldn’t touch even a two year old Highlander hybrid for the price I paid for my brand new Santa Fe hybrid. I have had many Toyotas and they are just so boring. When I test drove this Hyundai it was like wow Hyundai has hit a home run out of the park. Yes I understand that the 2.5 L turbo for the 2024 Santa Fe has had a plague of problems with the automatic transmission. I have not even had one problem not a squeak, not a rattle nothing In over 4000 miles. My lifelong average so far is 37.4 miles per gallon. Highly recommend this vehicle to anyone!

The Highlander is also very popular with thieves in Canada. This is from someone who knows....

Sante Fe Interior >>> Highlander Interior

The Hyundai looks better than the Toyota but if you care about saving money the Toyota is the obvious choice. The resale alone of the Hyundai will really burn you in the end.

I would stay with Toyota reliability and a long history with hybrids.

Highlander's interior is SO outdated

This auto battle was over at Toyota. 🥇

Personally I’d wait for the all new redesigned 2026 RAV4. (Official announcement November 2024). 232 HP, hybrid only and 12” display. 😊

Is the hybrid shortage a Toyota made issue? Or parts supply? Or can’t keep up on production?

I visited a few toyota dealerships here in British Columbia, Canada, and said two years wait for any hybrid

Toyota's 'reliability' is over blown hyperbole. I have owned Santa Fe for 6 six years without a single problem. Hyundai has in recent years proven itself to be highly reliable and competent - passing Toyota in areas such as design, technology and value. Both are great cars, but for me, Hyundai is the winner.

I guess the Toyota Highlander is slightly higher than the Hyundai Santa Fe, does this difference also reflect to the seat height from the ground?

it is so sad that hyundai/kia still has a lingering reputation of unreliability....they need to stop coating their cars with pretty trinkets and techs but pay more attention to their engines and transmissions....RELIABILITY should be KING!

Wait! The SF hybrid has a "6 speed automatic transmission"? What for? I thought the engine turns a generator that powers the electric motor on the wheels.

Honestly speaking, japanesse vehicles have been going down in reliability aswell. My aunt has a 2019 or 2020 highlander limited V6. And its has been dumb ngl.

Let me clarify that its not necessarily bad in terms of mechanical components. The overall Body build quality is bad. Roof started leaking like a year later, and the dealer just can't fix it. Also the tire wear is absolutely trash. The inner edges are wearing out WAY more. Oh and for some reason, the V6 is is Like, abnormally slow.

I still think toyota is king of reliability compared to others, but nowadays, you buy a car cuz it looks better, has better techs/features at the price point. And hyundai tech is leagues better than toyota tech.

My mom has a 2023 Hyundai N-Line she got for around 37k. Compare this to my cousin fully loaded, limited 2024 Rav4 for around 40k.

And they don't even come close in the tech department.

Also, with how toyota is going with their engines now, you might aswell start exploring other brands.

Now that doesn't mean go and buy a Mitsubishi cuz they still shit 😂

The Highlander is popular with thieves, so get an insurance quote before buying, Take a look at Santa Fe up close, lots of cheap looking plastic on the outside - also wouldn't buy a first year model.

Everyone knows the Toyota are the best running engines in the industry. One other car company uses their hybrid platform, Subaru.

Hyundai offers the best warranty in the industry, 5 years, 60, 000 miles basic, 10 years, 100, 000 miles powertrain. This should alleviate any quality concerns. Indeed, in the 2024 JD Powers initial quality study Hyundai and Kia ranked right at the top, #3 and #4.
