The ethical part of doing coaching services is something that deserves to be discussed. Congrats for the bravery to speak about this topic!

Great video as always! I remember quite a few years ago where a coach messaged me (without me initiating it), of course offering me a 6 figure future, 'kindly' knock off £200 from her £6000 package - after I said I couldn't afford coaching right now. I was a student making £500 a month max and ended up having to tell her this and my financial state and she STILL kept pressuring me! I hate the idea of somebody else having this conversation and taking out a loan or something like that! I'm now a coach myself and put my heart and soul into every single call and everything I do, and it's so sad that there are such toxic people out there!

This is the first time I have heard a business coach say these things. I’ve thought the same for a long time and love that you’re putting this out there!

Thanks for speaking about this. I thought I was the only one who felt the sour taste some coaches give when they act pushy and annoying.
As a coach, I'm more than compassionate and always excited to give value through my podcast, blogs, and videos.... as you said, there is no way people won't get value from this content.

I agree with you that coaches aren't saviors, and there have to be some due diligence from both sides.

I think everyone is a coach now. As someone who works in social media, I see so much BS online, it's crazy! I've also turned down clients who basically want me to continue to their lies on social media! This is why I still haven't hired a coach and I am doing totally fine. I would rather invest that money in my house right now and hire someone when I have the luxury of an extra few thousand dollars sitting around.

“Coaching is not a life raft.” I needed that! Whenever I am panicked I think booking more calls is going to save me 🤣

Yesss girl this needs to be said!! There are so many dodgy or scammy coaches out there these days, it's pretty sad. People get really hungry for the money, I think that's what drives it sadly :(

I love that you said that one should look for someone who has been in your shoes. Very valuable point. Also, I LOVE that you are against people paying on credit (taking out loans for coaching). Great video.

Omg thank you so much for speaking your truth on this. I help artists with marketing/creative vision and my intuition was always telling me something was off about a lot of business coaches who would pop up on my Instagram or socials feed. I started to gaslight myself and tell myself that this was just "jealousy" or "internal misogyny" popping up, when in reality it's okay for me to not align with or be comfortable with their message. Literally EVERY single one of these coaches has the same "Multiple six figures" in their bio or "Landing 7 figures" "100K" and so on, and I just think it's a bit gross. It may be narrow minded of me, but I feel like I can totally tell now the difference between coaches who genuinely care so much about their clients/want to lead them to success versus people who are just so money hungry.

It's amazing how many people there are who never had a business, never studied business, absolutely no qualifications, are barely 20 and are calling themselves "social media experts" and selling courses which is just content taken from other experts, real or fake.

I'm so glad that you made a video about this. There are so many people out there who are paying lots of money for coaching programs and getting scammed or no results at all. These bad coaches make it so hard for the good coaches to sign clients. I really hope this video encourages more people to speak out about this issue.

Omg I'm so glad someone finally said it. I watched this whole thing because it is REFRESHING to hear someone say that a lot of the coaching industry has become toxic and predatory. I relate to this so much, I hate the pressure and the shaming that comes with deciding NOT to drop thousands of my hard-earned dollars into their programs. I hate the subtext that I'm not "investing in the growth of my business" just because I can't afford to pay huge sums right now. I feel like so many people are only focused on getting rich and building 6 and 7 figure empires that they completely forget about the people they're stepping on to get there. This video is also a powerful reminder that we as business owners and service providers need to keep our integrity and make sure we're offering genuine value instead of focusing solely on making money!

As an attorney i see business and social media coaches giving terrible incorrect advice daily on social media. It’s a huge scam and my respect for the industry is so low now.

Yes 🙌🏻 this needs to be said! Coaching is just one of several online business structures I’ve seen that are selling modern day snake oil. I appreciate you taking your stand on this!

Yes, you said all of this perfectly! I believe that you need to have at least some of your own experiences and foundation of what you want for your business before hiring a coach that may persuade you to think a certain way — because they’ve convinced you that’s the best way to do it. I feel like there’s no spice in the SMM community and new business owners feel like there’s only one recipe for success. “30k in 3 months” raises some ethical concerns with me

Personally I changed my mind in going further in my career in business as I had an eye opening experience during my kids diagnosis and so I'm on a new path in psychology and counselling, once I've done my degrees I plan on opening my own private practise which I will include coaching but I will have that backing and that is what others should be looking for in their coaches the backing from an industry association and commerce chambers

And this is why I follow you Latasha! I'm dog tired tonight but just watched this vid and had to jump in to say "nice one". You are no BS and give great advice. Your courses are great and have helped me so much in my career already. More importantly, I can actually afford them (I'm a single mum with plenty of money struggles).

I love this video!
I am doing the socials for a small boutique I used to work at as a retail assistant, so having limited experience but really wanting to help them (while also enjoying it), I kind of dived into online learning blind.
But having known people who get into MLMs and who actively promote going into debt, it's hard to see a lot of similar-looking people in this industry spouting the same dogma and not feel slimy about it as a whole

Though I really respect your content and how you challenge this idea, I hope you have an amazing wedding too! 😊❤️
