Why on earth are people still paying the BBC license fee? Good grief opt out and stop funding the buggars.

When a bedsit in East London with your cooker next to your bed costs £1200 per month, you know this country isnt worth living in anymore. We arenjust being fleeced left, right and centre!

I'm shocked to actually hear of anybody still paying for a TV licence, just don't watch the BBC and don't consume the nonsense

It's so depressing living in the UK. I've sold everything I own and moved to Laos. My phone bill each month is £3.50. food is cheap and everywhere. Fuel half the cost. No council tax. Cost to build my house is around £12000 including the labour. Land size 30 x 30m which cost £22000. And everyone is smiling over here. I don't miss the UK at all. Also my health has much improved since being here. Tablets are pennies. No waiting times to see doctors. If your in a position to do it then just move away get some sunshine too.

That is what happens when a nation is brainwashed by making them think a "stiff upper lip" and "keep calm and carry on" is a good an honourable thing. It is not.

Sick of the struggle, constant worry regarding bills and such.

More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.

I used to get laughted at for living at home at 29. These same people complain how their income basically evaporates on pay day due to basic necessities.
We are moving back towards what has been normal for most of history. Multigenerational households.
Most immigrants i work with do this because they don't have this strange obsession with living independently from their family.

we have become a poor country with rich people living in it, no longer does the cost of living work like it used to, ppl struggling to make ends meet whilst the wealthies become even more grotesquely wealthy off the backs of people struggling to survive week on week...

My son is 22, he works full time for a low wage, gets just under £2k a month, before he even sees his wage, £405 comes out for car insurance, and £300 for child maintenance, and he has petrol to pay for too and from work, he lives with me because it's more or less impossible for him to live on his own, who would have thought, all the modern tech we have, all the life enhancements we have, but in 2024 we would be living in the worst poverty we've ever seen, feels like it's worse than during the war in 1940s, someone is behind all this, and it's deliberate

I worked in the NHS 21 years ago. My salary on a Band 7 was £37, 500 p.a. I have just checked to see what the salary is now and it’s £43, 700. I bought a 3 bed semi on my salary then for £101, 000, it cost me £25 to fill my petrol tank for the week’s commute. The same house now is £280, 000 and I would guess that it would cost me about £70 a week for my petrol. This isn’t do able now for a single person

It’s not the cost of living. It’s the devaluation of the currency that we’re all using. 3kg of gold bought you a house 100 years ago and it still does today.

Choosing to live in a country like Britain, is essentially telling the government that it is OK for them to replace you and that you are willing to fund this replacement.

The trick is to have a billionaire sugar daddy who will pay for glasses, clothes, suits and shoes, weekend accomadation, holidays etc, the only downside is the occassional sore bottom.

Personally, unless you need a car to get to work, I wouldn't even bother with a car. Unless a car is making you money it's not worth it.

As Polish living in London for last 19 years I see all changes.
Even with good salary I still need to watch the my spendings.
London is not attractive anymore (traffic, speed restrictions, parking costs, accomodation crisis, greedy councils, high taxes public transport costs, speed cameras, energy crisis).
Not to mention Sterling lost it's value and going out costs much more.
I am planning to work online, invest money and make a move in few years.
Life is too short.
