Great video and advice! Man, I wish I had had this advice when I was doing Calc 3 in college back in the early '80's, it would have made all the difference. I wish the internet had existed as well...these videos would have changed everything for me...changed it for the better!

I took multivariable calculus last semester; I would say check out the openstax textbook written by Gil Strang on calc 3, it was a very good supplement to the required textbook for the course, multivariable calculus by Stewart. Work ahead and start practicing partial derivatives and iterated integrals as soon as you can. Some areas people get hung up on are Lagrange multipliers, line integrals, and directional derivatives so I'd just skim through those so you have seen them before your instructor talks about them. If anyone has anymore questions please comment below.

an experimental method for me. That where one goes to, at least glance over, though preferably study a final exam review ideally well before a course/subject. I believe they have some out there on YT.

Excellent advice. Larson's and Stewart's texts are very good, and their old editions are just as good. Solutions manuals are important to have to check your understanding and compare your solutions with the 'official ones'. Calculus by Swokowski is also very good. Calculus is a huge subject. Time and hard work is required to master it properly. A lot of problems also stem from the fact that most students don't know elementary algebra and trigonometry properly. The authors above have textbooks with such a title (Elementary Algebra and Trigonometry). These are more or less comprehensive books while HS curriculum and remedial courses in college algebra are often not enough. Once again, math is a vast subject. Memorizing and rote-learning is not the right approach. Understanding is required which means a student should be able to derive formulas and prove theorems. He/she should also understand why the formulas derived the way the are and why theorems are proved the way they are, but that's ideally. As a minimum some basic/important derivations and theorem proofs should be clear to the student.

I recommend "The Physics Problem Solver: A Complete Solutions Guide to any textbook" by REA Associates. I do not think it is in print, but you can find a pdf of it on the internet. They claim not to skip steps. I can add a link if permitted. There are other books in the series including Advanced Calculus, Trigonometry, Topology, etc.

Took calc 3 last semester and never attended class except for tests and quizzes. I watched Professor Jamie Mulholland's Math 251 playlist (Calculus 3 at my uni) and did great. He's super concise, easy to understand, and teaches the material in a manner that allows you to build a strong intuition for the course. The playlist covers the entire lecture material.

If you have the luxury of having extra time and are not too far behind, I would consider staying in your physics class. I am in a comparable situation with my Physics II with Calculus class, but I keep my old textbooks nearby for reference, such as: College Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and Differential Equations. I consider Physics to be a class that brings together concepts learned in all the previous math classes. I have gone back to my calculus and trig book a countless number of times, but each time I better understand what I learned in those classes and am better able to apply those concepts in my Physics class. Note I also have the luxury of time because Physics is the only class I am taking this semester.

Videos of 😁😎 fun, witty, useful examples of applied math or calculus in the real world or everyday life would be awesome. That way it stays relevant and interesting. Maybe short interviews with ppl from different fields of a principle or problem. This would be inspirational. Do you keep in touch with ex students?

What's your email? Or you only let your students know? If not just for your students, sometimes I may ask you questions about mathematics.
