There is a lot of misinformation in this comment section lol

Todd's tweet was literally saying your channel's momentum (good or bad) is often NOT because of algorithms (i.e. new video suffers because last video did poorly), but it is instead because of the viewers' trust in your videos to deliver satisfaction to them. Your CTR can be lower on a new upload if your last video didn't satisfy those same people that saw your previous video. If they watched the previous one, they likely would be recommended your new video because you are in their recent watch history. If they were dissatisfied, they will likely NOT click, leading to a lower CTR, but that's on a per-viewer basis. Obviously your videos can deliver mixed results and the influence will vary on the next upload.

This does NOT mean that if a video performs poorly, it will guarantee the next one to perform poorly. YouTube treats each video as its own entity, not the channel. If you deliver the viewers what they want/need, YouTube will eventually find the perfect audience for it and it will perform well, relatively.

I can't tell you how many videos did so bad for me (10/10s) for the first 3 months and when I check again, they've hit 1M+ views. YouTube is always trying to find the audience for your videos, you just need to focus on delivering.

So one bad vid can screw everything after it. Definitely a point against making filler videos.

That is really sad to hear, honestly. For years we have been told a bad video doesn’t impact the channel performance, but in actual fact it does.

Seems like we need to be more careful with our future uploads - but how can you even know what will be successful and what won’t be? It’s really tough…

** The Algorithm just works in favor of big YouTubers. Millions and millions of starting off Creators still struggle to get a footprint on youtube despite all the tips and tricks we are showed and ways to optimize videos to fix things.

Very true. I have noticed this too. 5 months ago, one of my videos performed really well. Since that day, every video I post performs "really well" especially my shorts.

I don't buy into this! I'm no longer being recommended to non-subscribers. I have almost 20k subs and 2k videos in 12 months. Then BOOM! All analytics crashed. So...I can't buy into this.

I noticed this with my videos. The key is in the data, Always, I look at each video.. what is working in the topic that I chose. If something hit that week, I try to hit a similar same topics for the next video and that usually keeps the trend going… idk, I’m no expert and still a small channel.

But I have uploaded over 320 videos in the last 7 months on YouTube lol 🤷🏻‍♂️

that literally means if your first video performs poorly then every video after that will perform poorly. i dont get why youtube operates this way

Its a complicated algorithum. Varies from video to video.

LOL I fricken love how you looped this video so seamlessly. Is there a reason you did that? (i.e. to get people to watch more?)

it makes me feel better looking at all these ppl w 1m subscribers that only have 5-10k views on videos as well. it’s so hit or miss 👍🏻

After doing youtube for a while, I sort of came to this same conclusion. It's kind of unfortunate though, an underperforming video shouldn't hinder a future upload that by all means is leagues better than your last video, really makes you stop to think about every aspect of the youtube video making process to ensure you don't ever had a bad stinker.

snowball effect. i think we all kinda knew that, because the big youtubers stay be for a good reason.

Does that mean, the performance of a channel tapers down till it's lost in oblivion?

So unless your first video has a good ctr, you’re screwed? They really need to tone this down.
