Excellent video. That was the problem. It didn't take long to fix.

I have Kenmore version of this one. It was manufactured in 2008. I also got F71 error. I tried some of the other simple fixes that others have suggested, then I disconnected the water supply and found that the small wire mesh filters (hot and cold supply) at the connection were clogged with scrunge and debris. I cleaned them and no longer have F71. Worth a try before you call the repair guy.

Scott, very informative and helpful video. I had been troubleshooting my Whirlpool washer WFW9500 with an F70 error code and could not figure it out. I unplugged to motor control wiring (blue wires at the top of the module) and was able to get the washer to turn on. The motor control unit connector was wet. I am waiting for it to dry up... update to come.
Thanks a lot!

Decent video. 4 outta 5 stars. Camera angles didn't fully show how to remove the motor control board, but SUPER knowledgeable.

Scott, The F70 error code came up at the end of several codes C:00 U:22 2:22... ten codes in all then the F70 code came up, I unplugged the blue wire on the MCU and my washer stayed the same buttons just dinged. Model WFW9550WW10 What would be the next to check in this case. Thanks for the video

Do not be upset. I will share my fix :(
Wife get upset and force me to knee and open the bottom cover of the washer and remove motor control board (i watched vid on youtube to learn how to) :)
In my case i had a f70/f71 for over 6-9 months hoping that it will go away somehow miraculously. It would start and stop before spinning, beep and do not start at all, lock the door etc
i did a lot of unplugging.
Wife said: enough
back to motor board. im looking at the board and see "communication" circuit from the computer is separated from the rest of the board with two Optocouplers TCLT1103.
I looked at it close with magnifying glass x10 and see a bit of tiny residue between 3 legs. Cleaned it with needle/spirit/brush. Put everything back together and now it looks as it is finishing the whole cycle.
it looks like this tiny residue was giving problem to the transistor side (reading side) of TCLT1103 Optocoupler and could not communicate properly with the main computer.
Somebody is going to hate me

This might be a dumb question... but where do you suggest I buy the motor control unit??? I have what appears to be the exact same Kenmore Elite model shown. Thanks in advance!!!

I’ve had the error code F70 for a few days now. For a while the power would not come on. Now it is F71. Is this normal? The drum does, or did rotate. So according to the TS guide it is a user interface problem.

I did all of that and when I turned it on - still not working. F71 again. Any ideas?

What else could the cause be if after disconnecting the 3 blue wire plug the f71 error persists? I also checked voltage and I get 5 volts for the blue wire connector
