Makes sense seeing as mobs can't spawn on slabs leaves glass or other entities such as chests...so does that mean by that definition since players grief villagers that we are mobs as well?

(valid for before 1.18 at the very least, maybe more versions) You can still spawn under non-transparent blocks if there is no valid spawn area. People have spawned at y7 before. A few other things that can happen: you can spawn IN an iceberg due to how they generate. I suffocated in one once when I spawned into a world. You can also spawn in the middle of the ocean with no land in sight. This is because the game choses a spawn point, and if its in water the game searches the surrounding ~400 block radius for a solid block to spawn on. If there is nothing then it just drops you into the ocean.
