Learn SwiftUI or UIKit first?

If you are learning Swift in 2023, should you learn SwiftUI or UIKit first?

Every new feature or app shout be build with SwiftUI but there is always the legacy code that is mostly UIKit and to maintain that code or fix bugs, some UIKit knowledge is required.

There’s no debate. A person wanted to start iOS dev should focus on Software engineering principles first with deep knowledge of Networking, Database, OS, how build system works, notifications, fire base and then decide which to pick?
According to my opinion you should learn both because still many things like Webviews & Share extensions you require UIKit Knowledge.

Learn SwiftUI first. You can build and publish your own apps and then worry about UIKit and getting a job later (if you want). I’m hoping to publish my first app by September. I’d prefer to be an indie developer and be my own boss.

I tried to create an app a few years ago. It was very time consuming trying to get everything to line up correctly. I would get my storyboard just the way I wanted it but when I tried to load it on my device it wouldn’t work. Dealing with all of those constraints was a pain in the butt. I can see why Apple will eventually phase UIKit out of Xcode.
