Finally someone showing the important step to move the transponder to the new key fob. I missed that part because other videos did not show that and my car did not start. Took me a while to figure it out.

I had the same issue, the replacement shell was slightly different, painful to pull it apart, ended up using wire cutters to cut my way through the plastic. circuit board fitted into the top section better than the bottom, couldn't re use the silicon gasket so it might not be water resistant, had to file the key end but managed to get it all back together and it works great, thank you so much :)

Awesome! It helped me to fix my original key. I struggled for 1 hour before watching this. I don't think I could solve the problem without watching this video.. Thank you!

This is an amazing video. My car remote case had got damaged and tried several places including the authorised service centers but none could help. After seeing this video procured the shell over internet and replaced it myself at home and it is working fine. Thanks and appreciate for having uploaded the video covering each step.

I just did it! now I'm praying it all works fine.. I completely destroyed the old shell though, I think they had closed it with 3 bottles of super glue or something, I cut myself twice in the process and almost gave up and cried.. but I finished! :D
oh and I could not get the blank key blade off to replace it with the old one (I bought the replacement shell from aliexpress), so I just got it cut at smith for 10 eur. Thank you so much for this video!!!

Very helpful video! I did everything just like you did (before watching the video), but forgot the transponder chip inside the old flip key, so the car didn't start.

Thanks again!

Took me about 15 minutes. I had to go to the locksmith to get the old blade filed down, but that only cost me $15. Thanks for the tutorial!

Hello,
Thank you very much for this video. It gave me the confidence that I can replace my old flip key shell myself and now I have purchased one and replaced it myself. Perfect!!!

Hello Tamara,
If the old key is in good condition, you can use it with the new case. I am using the old key and the assembly is done and works fine.

Very helpful video, I hadn't managed without it. Worked on Kia Ceed 2011 in Sweden. Thank you!

Hint---> when doing the transponder part. I have a Hyundai flip key and there was a white plastic thing in the existing one. When I put this in the new one, it didn't work. Eventually I found there was a black stone looking thing buried deep under where the white plastic piece was. Now it works fine.
Also, don't do what I did, and loose the little brown buttons off the circuit board. They're very hard to find on the floor. All good now though.

Very helpful video. Worked on Kia Forte 2011 in Malaysia without the transponder piece. Thank you!

This video is very helpful and easy to follow. My i30 would not start as the ecu shut off the engine. When I opened the (replacement) key I found the transponder had not been placed properly by the key cutter. The transponder chip has to be very close to the key blade and in the proper orientation. Once I fixed that it started first time.

I hope this will be helpful to everyone who needs to do this.
1. There's another video where they show you how to replace just the flexible key panel. That might be a lot simpler than replacing the whole shell, as here, but I didn't see it 'till the end.
2. Get the replacement shell from the web. It must be exactly the same design as the original or else the microswitches inside won't match the buttons on the outside.
3. I couldn't tension the spring to flick out the key when you press the button, even testing it by assembling the new (blank) blade, button and spring into the new shell. But giving up on this makes the job much simpler. You don't need to replace the nut at the base of the key blade for example.
4. The person who said he did this in 15 minutes - I find that incredible.
5. TEST EACH PART AS YOU GO. Get the circuit board out then hold the battery in with thumb and finger and press the microswitches, the car doors should lock and unlock.
I had to cut the transponder out of the old shell with a hacksaw. Put it in the new shell wrapped in paper (I didn't glue it), assemble the key blade and shell and test the transponder. If it's not there, or not working, the car will turn over, but not start.
6. You must glue the shell together at the end. If the shell separates at all you'll press the button but it won't reach the microswitches.
There's a real satisfaction in getting it done.

Thanks for the video :-) I also had to cut the original key open because it was glued together. And to remove the pin from the blade I used a drill bit. I think i took me almost 3 hours, but so the joy was much greater when it managed :-)

Great video, hardest part for me was getting the buttons lined up to the internal 'chip-board' as the shape of the replacement shell was slightly different. That's the only part I missed in the vid.
