Angron had the saddest story of any primarch. It's mentioned he was kind and caring before the nails, one night in the slave pits he eased a sick kids nightmares and pain so he could rest and took it for himself. He loved his adopted dad and he just wanted to free the people of his planet. The emperor pulled him away from the war he was waging to free the slaves but he just wanted to stay with his brothers and sisters.

Angron wasnt THAT bad of a person, when the emperor came for him he only asked to take his friends with him, being a bad father as he was the emperor Said "Nah" and left all of his friends to die

Angron also got made fun of because his daemon prince form was weaker than his primarch form also angrons legion basically hated him when they met him because the butchers nails in his brain fucked with his primarch aura so they didn’t bond as well to him

The way karn explains what the nail feels like is so horrifying. And makes me feel so bad for angron. He was meant to be the pillar of the primarchs to hold his brothers up and take their pain. But the eldar got him enslaved and nailed. When angron was not in battle he would scream cry and go completely insane.
Karn killed everyone in the room in a blind rage. Not butchery because a butcher would have a ryme or reason. He ripped them apart with his hands. And when he came to angron stood over him and said, "do you see now?"

There's a great scene in (I believe it was master of mankind) where Arkhan Land was talking to the emperor while he has Angron unconscious on a table and he's trying to remove the butchers nails. He basicly says "look what these idiots did to my war asset" it's a moment of honesty where the emperor shows he only really views the primarchs as tools

Don't care what anyone says, Angron's story is heartbreaking. Born a slave fought for his freedom and his people only to be forced into chains again to watch them all die. I mean, who wouldn't be like him if they were in the position he was.
