YES finally someone actually talking about how angron was supposed to be a "healer" people forget this fact and it makes angron a tragic character

The story of his sons nails only makes it more sad. They only got the nails in an attempt to make Angron care for them, without knowing it only made him hate them more.

If it weren't for those damn nails, Angron could've been one of the most beloved Primarchs alongside Sanguinius.

The fact they knew Angron was fucked but simply thrust him back into combat with a legion now as his own disposable tool... if only big E had built a fundamental bond of honour between himself and Angron / saved his family...

Angron and the world eaters are easily one of the greatest tragedies of all 30k/40k lore.

He is even worse as a Daemon Prince, as it is suggested the Butcher's Nails within his brain at this point became a component of his being and suffers episodes where he doesn't even know who he or his allies are.

Angron is what happens when the Paladin is surgically forced to be the Barbarian.

If magnus was the librarian primarch,
If vulkan was the techmarine primarch,
And Lorgar was the chaplain primarch,
Angron should have been the apothecarry primarch

"Heavily armoured?" Bro, most of them removed their arm plates as a flex.

The story about how his legion ended up getting the butchers nails was always such a tragic one to me. For them to just Black out and murder dozens of their brothers and for them to still be like, yeah, this is definitely a good idea blows me away.

What I find interesting about angron was his whole “taking the pain away and putting it upon himself” makes a lot more sense in the context of his legion that I think a lot of people are missing the point.
Because, you have a complete legion dedicated to melee, and enjoy being in the front line. But what’s gonna be commonplace when you’re in the frontline? Injuries. A lot of injuries.
Angron’s true purposes would’ve been to helping his soldiers, likely reinforced with the apothecaries to help tend to the severely wounded, like angron taking the pain away from a space marine that just narrowly survived losing all his limbs whilst the apothecary stabilizes the wounded space marines condition.
It’s all the more reason why I find angron sad. He could’ve been a great aid if he hadn’t the butchers nails implanted and sacrificed to Khorne

Fun fact the butchers nails was actually quite the controversial thing in the legion with some Astartes for and some The against ones were never heard from again (plus because of the nails taking angrons special sauce the legionaries weren't auto loyal to him and alot in fact didn't like him as shown by the fact that world eaters had the most loyalists to purge at Istvan

His primarch healing factor was regenerating his brain but just barely slower than the Nails were snaking further in

And even with the butchers nails, if the Big E hadn't been a massive dick and just helped his gladiator brothers I don't think he would have fell to Chaos...And I reckon there's someone somewhere or there's an STC to remove the nails.

I weep inside wondering what the traitor primearchs could have been if things did not go to shit, what they all could have been. but especially Angron

Everyone says the Nails were the reason of why Angron was the way he was the Eldar for sending a kill squad against him. That squad, which all of them perished, wounded Angron to the point of being captured by slavers. That moment of trying to prevent a future lead Angron down that path of damnation.

We need an Angron Green Mile movie... the ending will be a bit dark though 😅

Angron to me at least always had the most tragic and compelling back story.
Non of the primarchs when through as much as he did save perhaps the night haunter

The issue with Angron's Nails, compared to the Nails that his legion (and the other slaves on his world) had, was that Angron's in particular were THE original Nails that all others were developed from. They were the prototypes.

And where these First Nails would have killed a normal human in maybe hours, Angron withstood them thanks to his Primarch makeup. But there was a problem; the more the Nails dug in, the more his own brain tried to fight back and undo the damage caused by them. The push-pull of these two things caused such intense strain that eventually, even Angron's genetic strength would have started failing. And because his brain had 'grown back' so much after each time the Nails sung, they were deeply blended with each other to the point where they didn't know if they could remove them safely.

The Emperor of course, just went. "Hm. Leave them in. We'll just use him as weapon instead of a general. A broken tool can still be used for other purposes, if not perfectly." And condemned him to a slow, agonizing death over decades.

If Angron and Vulcan were together (AS IN IN PERSON, BROTHER TAKING CARE OF BROTHER NOT THAT WAY YOU SICK FUCKS) I'm sure they'd have a whole segmentum in peace and a massive legion

I think he would've been a warrior monk. Nice, probably, but humble, selfish and empathetic definitely.
