Turning my Sewing Room into a Hobbit Hole!

Don't mind me, just LIVING MY DREAMS. When Nick and I decided to split his office in half to allow for a sewing room/guest bedroom, I knew eXACTLY what needed to be done.
So I set forth on a quest to turn it into a hobbit hole (as much as you can without replacing windows and doors and being underground lol). I took just around 9 days to transform the space with plaster paint, fake beams, and a whooole lotta sweat.
I hope you enjoy this epic journey!!
LOVE YA!

My husband watched this with me and when you put the fireplace all together I heard him whisper, "she's a wizard".

Not to be weird and mushy but I love that Nick seems to wholeheartedly both love you and your ideas and takes them in stride and using his expertise to help you

At this point Rachel is not inhabiting that home, she’s inhobbiting it 🤭🤭 and we’re here for it 🤍

i have this feeling that rachel’s house is going to be about 60% foam and 40% retique it when she’s done decorating it

" oops it's the next day" feels like how I've been living my life for the past 5 years

Not gonna lie, if I had a friend who told me that, when I came to visit, I would be staying in the Hobbit Hole? I would get so excited

“Whomst art thou going to beckon?!” Rachel Maksy! Thou art so quotable! I’m crying with laughter. 😂

“Life is about taking risks… or about being too lazy to take precautions.” You described my creative process!!😅😍

That Murphy bed would look so sick with Swedish folk art style flower motifs, like they used to paint to cabinets and chests and other parts of the house ✨👌

Petition for Rachel to make a video spicing up some of her already completed projects!
I’d certainly be willing to watch it if she felt like going over/fixing some of the things she wasn’t pleased with.

Faking wood 100 different ways with Rachel Maksy. I love it. That in itself could and should be its own series.

The small bricks in the back actually make the fireplace look deeper. And given it's a hobbit theme, a little forced perspective magic is not remiss!

Huge thanks to Nick for sacrificing an office space for this work of art! I'd love to see you and Nick make him an office of his dreams xx

I think the small bricks for the fireplace back wall gave it depth and tricks the eyes to think it is deeper than it actually is. Very nice :)

The experiment is called oobleck! Feels like a word you would like. It's a non-newtonian fluid which gives it that texture

“And Bilbo’s your uncle” I’m definitely stealing that 😂

Nick's knacks. (I'll see myself out.)

I love the fireplace, it came out so nice! And the whole room, so cute!

As a New Zealander every time Rachel takes on a hobbity project my native hobbit heart grows three sizes I love it xo

The wood „grain stamps“ as you call them are actually called rockers, as in you would rock them across a surface. It‘s a scenic art technique to create woodgrain either just with paint or some texture. I‘m a scenic artist myself and its really fun seeing you discovering all this stuff. BUT there is a whole RABBITHOLE you could go down. ❤❤❤ keep doing the good stuff!!!
