HOW TO become a MEMBER of this channel to get access to Extra Videos, library of Instruction Sheets and other perks– PLEASE READ FIRST TILL THE END. Thank you!
• PLEASE NOTE: these are not patterns for clothes and garments included in the Membership
• Instruction sheets are a step-by-step written instruction on how I drafted this or that project, so that you can follow along. Instruction Sheets are available as a back catalogue, but there are no new Instruction sheets for projects starting with July 2022.
• The templates are ONLY for the small projects, like a basket, or coaster, or towel wrap and etc.
• I have also created sewing reference sheets and practice sheets, as well as sketches that you can use and some small-scale garment parts that you can use to practice "slash and spread" techniques and dart manipulations. Instruction sheets are focused on the drafting process and less on the sewing sequence as that is shown in the video. Sewing steps can be sometimes written out, and sometimes referenced back to the original video.
• Members Extra videos go into fabric selection, extra tips and tricks, best practices and some additional ideas from me
• I try to prioritize Members comments, especially if there is a question
• I try to post EARLY ACCESS videos for Members, meaning those are videos that you can watch earlier than anyone else and without ads :)
• Every week I post Members ONLY sneak peeks
• We also have Members Only FB group for sharing project pictures and inspiration
• I am not a teacher and this is not a course or a program

Thank You for being here and see you soon!

Great post! Some really great tips. My sewing cave is hardly ever neat and tidy except for the 10 mins after a big clean. 🤣

Use the floor? At 67 years old, that won't work for me, but a great idea for younger sewists!!

You could put a piece of cardboard in the flimsy sheet protectors or the zip lock bag, for sturdiness.

I find what you say about storing like with like is very efficient for fabric!
My mum and I (currently sewing - and living! - under the same roof) have a lot of utilitarian fabric, such as jean scraps for repairing men work trousers, or very strong cotton for covering garden chairs, etc. We keep these fabrics in a big trunk we use as a coffee table. We don't use them every day and they would take up a massive amount of space in the sewing room, so it makes sense to keep them out of sight.
We keep smaller scraps or fat squares together in a separate box, as we know we can't make a garment from one of them, but we use them for dolly clothes, patchwork, or smaller projects like wallets, pouches, scrunchies....
For our main stash, we have piles of neatly folded fabrics on a book shelf, along with boxes with chiffon and lining fabrics (because yes, we have the same problem as you if fold them in a pile!)
And then we have a basket with 'currently sewing' projects, because who has time to finish a project in one go, with a baby and two men to feed? XD We try to finish that before we start anything new (hint: we NEVER manage to help ourselves).

Now, it sounds like we have our stuff together. That's the theory!

Have been sewing for over 50 years and am now 70yrs old and still find myself sometimes having to cut large pieces of fabric on the floor. Unfortunately, my small craft room does not have enough space for a cutting table. 🤣😂😂💕

I have two banquet tables a four foot one that houses two sewing machine s plus my overlocker, with two four draw plastic units underneath and a six-foot long banquet table for cutting out fabric which I put up as needed, I've attached two cot sides too the walls with butcher s hook and hanging plant pots to store stuff plus a hanging rail with a cover (basically a canvas wardrobe to hang projects in and plenty of large plastic storage boxes for material and a square ottman that all of my stuffing scraps go into

the first fabric I bought I washed like that in the washing machine it frayed all around since all fabric I bought I roll them with raw parts inside and use hair elastics around before washing no more fraying out of the way

using the floor for cutting is great unless you are over 50. I would love a cutting area that's bigger than the table I'm currently using though.

Thinking of a source for banquet tables: used from churches, lodges, etc.

I know this is an old video, but it's still very useful! I wonder if it would be a fun challenge to create an energy efficient sewing room for us Europeans over here. Unplugging your machine when not in use, eco mode on your iron, staying warm, stuff like that.

For pattern storage, I use your second option, the clear plastic three ring binder. I put them in a large 3 ring binder and use notebook dividers to separate them. The 3 ring binders can be labeled (example dolls) with further breakdowns inside the binder. I then can put the binders on a shelf making it easy to locate children's clothing, dolls, quilt patterns, etc.
