The high prices paid for GPU's during the shortage over the past year or so sent one message to Nvidia : you can gouge buyers for as much cash as you think you can get out of them. I think they have taken one step too far with their ripoff pricing.

I can't wait for real 4090 benchmarks. I still will probably go AMD. I'm not feeding Nvidia's greed.

This is why 3090's are going left and right on EBAY right now. Last night someone had three EVGA FTW 3 3090's for 725 bucks each. I checked this morning and all three were SOLD.

GOOGLE giving people back there money, , HATS OFF TO THEM OMG a company does the right thing for there people, , companies like blizzard should take notes

No benchmarks for non-DLSS performance kind of leaves us in the dark. Not that I'm going to buy a 4090 anyway, but was curious to see how it did.

Oh, so there aren't benchmarks and the title was incorrect

It's kind of generous to call DF third party...

In honesty, they are a glorified marketing tool used by whomever needs a marketing push.

The European price always includes the equivalent of sales tax which in Finland is 24%. (Yeah. VAT is just a sales tax where the seller can deduct the sales taxes of its purchases so that companies can purchase from one another without a sales tax burden for the final price being different depending on if the company used a supplier or made everything themselves. )
The difference today is that during previous launches, the dollar used to be so much weaker that if you add the VAT to a dollar number and convert it to euro you get a number that's close to the original number.
If the dollar was weaker I could have considered some kind of hardware upgrade in a couple of months, but as it stands anything worth upgrading into is beyond my budget. On the other hand, it also means my hardware is fast relative to my budget.

The 4090 doesn't make any sense to buy now for those prices. You only get great performance with 3rd party support. It will take at least a year before there's enough support for it and implementations are mature enough for it to make sense. A 3090Ti makes a lot more sense right now if you want performance and enough support for DLSS tech.

I knew the 4090 was going to be less than 2x faster than the 3090 Ti in rasterized games without DLSS. It's around 85%–90% faster than the 3090 Ti on average in ray traced games without DLSS, which is impressive. What really pisses me off, though, is that most of the benchmarks I have seen with 4090 have been done with DLSS. Where are the raw performance benchmarks? I’m not saying DLSS is bad. It’s a cool feature. But when doing benchmarks, it’s always best to compare apples to apples. I think Nvidia is hiding something, which is why they hardly showed any raw performance benchmarks.

With stadia being thrown "in the bin", this reaffirms why I want my bought games to be playable off line with no need to "check in" or force updates, just the same as Atari/Nintendo/Sega all used to do, pet hate especially with steam.

It’s so crazy to see all the AIB 4090’s but no EVGA ones sadly, however I hope they can do more Mobo’s and Cases now that they aren’t doing Nvidia’s cards anymore.. 😅😢

Still waiting on AMD gpus later this year.. Honestly very excited for the new x3d cpu, hope it comes early in 2023 :)

My hope is that this generation of GPUs and CPUs will be a bust due to most everyone having upgraded during the Pandemic. Too much heat and pricing is far too high. Maybe a bust quarter will reframe this narrative in favor of the consumers.

DLSS 3.0 frame generation is simply a visual fidelity feature, calling it "performance" is misleading marketing. If you are getting 60 rendered frames, you are getting input lag that is associated with 60, even if DLSS 3.0 inserts additional frames so that 120 frames are displayed. The animation and movement will look smoother, but the actual performance is the same. You won't get enhanced responsiveness which I always considered to be the primary reason to play at higher framerates, tbh, 60 fps looks just fine with motion. 120 fps looks better, but honestly, the visual returns diminish a lot after 60 fps, what you do get though is better responsiveness and I think there is a noticable difference between 60 and 120 fps responsiveness.

Thinking AMD is waiting on 13th gen to see where they land. If they lose the lead in price/performance I think we will see the 3D versions sooner rather than later following a price cut of the normal 7000 series parts. If they keep the lead then we may have to wait a bit longer. Let's hope Intel brings it to keep AMD on their toes.

seems like the 4090 will be a great card but if you notice every time they show the performance is based on DLLS 3.0. not many games support it. so I'm not fully convince

Oh I am so pumped for the CPU & GPU, Motherboard & Memory companies to charge me $3000.00 in 2022 for parts to build a $800.00 PC I built less than 5 years ago.

I see absolutely no reason to buy this new series of GPU's. Who the hell needs that kind of performance in 2022 and for that price!

What has me upset about Nvidia is that they're charging $899, for a die that is only slightly larger than a 3050, and significantly smaller than the 3060TI, with the same memory bus as the 3060 non-TI
And we cant even argue that this is because they're just shrink the dies, because AD102 is only something like 2% smaller than GA102

Because they re-named the 4060, to the 4080, and ocerclocked the snot out of it, that likely means the lowest card we'll get is either the 4070 for $649, or the 4060 $529, because the dies just cant get any smaller, and the memory bus just cant get much narrower
-mutters under my breath- $899 for a ~290mm² 192 bit memory bus card, back in my day those were $129-$250, man these prices have gotten out of hand over the past 6 years
