Bethesda writing or Obsidian writing?

Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter

One of my favorite iterations of this quirk:
if you do the primm sheriff quest and recruit meyers, people may still say the "wimped out and accepted NCR rule" line, even more insane is that some primm NPCs also say it, including RUBY NASH

Worst that happened to me is that during his way to the camp, he got fuccing obliterated by a Cazador and failed the quest, had to backtrack to a previous 5 hour save.

my favorite is talking to a calm, well-spoken character and then when you leave, they say "LATERRRR"

You can tell it's Obsidian because of the profanity. I don't need constant f-bombs, but I thought it was weird how there wasn't a lot of people cursing in Fallout 3. In New Vegas, there's so much more foulmouthness which fits the world much better and makes people sound more realistic. You'd imagine people living in the apocalypse would be pretty angry and curt, and Obsidian nailed it much better than Bethesda.

I saw Anders one day on a trek and thought “This guy looks different from the slaves, poor lad, let’s see if I can help him.” Turns out there was no option to do so. Six in-game months later I rescued him because I actually had the quest active. Somehow, the bloke was alive.

I see people blaming 'the engine', but that's not to blame. Simply put, that 'come to gawk at the khans' line wasn't programmed to not be spoken by that character. Anders has access to the Khans generic dialogue pool so there's nothing to stop him saying it once his quest role is over. However a simple 'getisid Anders = 0' would have blocked that from happening. it's programming laziness at worst or an oversight at best.

i thought the title was sarcastic. but a lot of these commenters think this was a deliberate choice made by the writers...

Bethesda quests are almost entirely written by Todds lover. No matter how much bad his writing is he is untouchable.

It's just generic dialogue. Frankly, I find stuff like this hilarious, people who can't enjoy gamey moments like this will never experience true joy.

It's a lack of play-testing.

Of course, play-testing this entire thing to get rid of every wonky dialogue interaction would take way too long and we should be glad this is one of the worst.

Being unable to betray the Legion after Vulpes Inculta tells who is the spy in McCarran is the worst one.

Jk Rowlings 10 years later: The reason he acted like that, it was due to his Bipolarity. Oh, he was also actually black.

Thats not so much a problem with the writing but a confliction of scripts. At the time of recording you were neutral with the Great Khans, but had taken the job from Diane to save Anders, what he says while limping away is one of the neutral lines of dialogue that every generic great khan will say if you try to talk to them.

Bethesda had nothing to do with the development of Fallout New Vegas, besides funding, and providing a strict deadline.

This game probably wouldn't be so buggy if Bethesda gave them more than a single year to work on it. Goes to show that Obsidian Entertainment can match Bethesda quality on a schedule x3 to x5 shorter.
