How to Lift Downturned Mouth Corners Non-Surgically

The downward positioning of the corners of the mouth can create a facial expression that appears sad or angry, regardless of one's true emotional state. This drooping effect often arises from marionette lines, which are vertical creases that extend from the mouth corners towards the chin.

Over time they can deepen, resembling a puppet's mouth and exacerbating the appearance of jowls. Consequently, it is essential to understand the causes of drooping mouth corners and explore non-surgical treatment options.

Various factors contribute to the occurrence of drooping mouth corners:

Gravitational changes: As we age, the effects of gravity can affect facial features, including the corners of the mouth, causing them to droop.

Loss of cheek volume: The diminishing volume in the cheeks can lead to a loss of support for the mouth corners, resulting in their downward displacement.

Repetitive facial muscle expressions and jaw bone shrinkage: Frequent muscle movements, such as frowning, combined with the shrinking of the jaw bones, can contribute to the development of drooping mouth corners.

The ageing process leads to the depletion of collagen and elastin in the skin and underlying tissues, causing a reduction in volume, strength, and structural integrity. Consequently, the structures that previously maintained the elevation of the mouth corners and the surrounding skin weaken, leading to sinking and sagging.

One specific cause of mouth downturn is the depressor anguli oris (DAO) muscles situated on the jaw. These muscles extend from the mouth corners to the chin and tend to strengthen with age. When these muscles are overused, typically through repetitive frowning, they can contribute to the downward displacement of the mouth corners.

There are many ways we can treat drooping mouth corners, from anti-wrinkle injections and fillers to RF microneedling and ultrasound.

deceptive that you are a doctor, you are working on more clients : ( nothing wrong with that but doing it deceitfully is not going to bring you the results you are looking for.

I hate the idea of injecting anything into my face! We have many muscles in the face just like our body we can exercise those muscles daily! Instead of pushing injectibles how about suggesting various facial exercises.

Your title said non-surgical - injectibles are invasive. I had hoped that you were going to recommend exercising muscles. Your interest is to sell injectibles!

A little disappointed by this one. I already know that I kinda have rbf (more like resting sad face, really) and always had it, but you where only talking about downturned mouth corners due to age. So that doesn't seem too helpful for your younger viewers.
And if tense muscles below the mouth pull the area down, couldn't you just train the muscles that pull in the opposite direction? In the comments you said, there are no studies that support that this would work, but as someone with knowledge about facial muscles, you could perhaps explain, if it at least makes sense, theoretically.

It’s caused from depression, prolong sadness & frowning. Not using the “smile” muscles
