I have been scammed before. I have discover bank. They would love to have all of your emails calls proof. In my case I was issued a new card after their investigation was over. Mine was charge from a truck stop for a wire transfer. The funny part was it was easy to prove where I was at due to the company I worked for tracks the truck and loads in real time. I was a truck driver and I assume that a skimmer got my info. I had to contact my bank more often because as a driver you may be in different states locations etc. I would often call before large purchases for fuel etc so they would know it was me. Oh my gosh. So first off, the gentlemen lied to you because the credit card company most definitely will cancel his card and reissue as you stated. Second I agree that after listening to her conversation I think something is really fishy with both these people. Lastly, I would contact his credit card company since you have his name and account number.. I worked for a bank for 30 years so I know they will not give you any information but they definitely need to know something is up with these two people. TQ - great record keeping. Similar Occurrence With Card Fraud For Me. Have Branded Card From Major Retailer I Carry In Wallet But Never Use Physically (Use Secure App Or Online When Necessary). I Get Immediate Notification Whenever A Transaction On Any Of My Cards Posts. Had Multiple Transactions Within Minutes Of Each Other In State(s) Nowhere Near Me (Interestingly All At Auto Parts Stores). Called Credit Card Company And They Immediately Cancelled Card And Transactions. Took Less Than 10 Minutes. Still No Clue How Card Was Compromised. Not Buying His Credit Card Company's Response.

I spent the last 10 years as a Police Officer before starting my business, I have seen that so many times it's sickening. The guy clearly knows her or he's be insistent that something gets done. I'd bet anything that the credit card company never even got contacted on his end. Hope you get paid or at least that there's something worth your efforts in that storage unit.

I would be horrified if a storage company told anyone my name or said if I was a client. Given that Domestic violence is such is a precursor for murder it doesnt appear to be a good idea to revealing any information at all. Perpetrators of DV unfortunately are generally very slick at spinning sob stories to get the imformation they want to gain access to their victim/s. It would have been much better to hand the situation over to the police immediately a person claims false charges to a card without giving any details to the claimant. This guy sounds too chatty to be safe. They both certainly triangulated you which is not good for you.

I think the Cop may be mistaken.
I believe that in the cases of Credit Card fraud it is actually the Credit Card Company that has been defrauded and it is them who will press charges, which they always do.
When you use a credit card it isn’t you that’s paying the bill it’s the credit card company. They then invoice you for that expense plus interest every month. So the money that has been defrauded here is the Credit Card Company’s money.
The Credit Card Company will ALWAYS issue a new card as they will remove the current card number from their active system to prevent further fraud.
If I had to guess, I’d say the two people you were speaking to are up to some shenanigans. I think you should ( and it may be a legal obligation) report it to the credit card company yourself as “The card owner, ” May not have actually done so.
I fear you may be the one who end up out of pocket.

By not pressing charges he is allowing the use of his card and therefore is responsible for the rental charges. Dispute his dispute or you will have to eat the rental fees. I'd also double lock that storage unit so it doesn't get emptied overnight. Hard to auction air.

Well now that was a different kind of video! I for one can't believe that guy wouldn't want to file a report on her! If someone used my credit card, which has happened, I called the credit card company and they issued new cards to us! They went after the individual who used our card...I didn't need to pay them the amount I was billed. Sad world we live in when things like this happen. I just hope you guys get the back payments that are due your business. Keep us posted!!!

I`d have a legal stipulation in the contract that: "If you are more than 1 month behind, the storage unit lock is changed until your arrears are caught up". If the business owner has a heart and gives them even 1 day....that gives them time to empty the storage unit.
Hope all works out well. You Two work way too hard to have this happen.

There’s some scamming going on, and sounds like he is trying to get the charges reversed and she gets free rent.

I’m a retired bank employee. The Credit card companies usually handle these type of cases. They have a very busy Fraud department. These things happen all the time unfortunately. It’s too bad you had to spend a full day of your own time dealing with it. I hope it gets resolved so you don’t have to suffer any losses.

Wow, that's insane. They always cancel the card. I had that happen myself and they cancelled the card.

the reason why they didn't cancel the card is because the cardholder did not dispute the transaction as fraud. Discover will let you keep your same card number if it is not a fraud charge. I'm not sure about every dispute but i know this is from experience.
