DIY Soldering Iron from PENCIL

In this video I show how I turned a pencil into a temporary soldering iron. It works because the graphite of the pencil is conductive. When a current passes through it, it heats up enough to melt solder. This project is for fun and educational purpose (or if you really need to solder something) but the pencil won’t last more than a few solders.

I wore safety glasses the entire time and I would not have even thought to attempt this without wearing them.

I didn't try but could be cleaner to weld with the opposite head of the pencil.
In that case you can also re-sharp the edge if it gets consumed or damaged (maybe I'm wrong and it won't work).

This did with too large of an output and the graphite exploded, 10/10.

I make the same thing and it's getting to hot but when I want like to solder a resistor or a capacitor it didn't solder the iron from the board why
I used a 12v 1 amps charger

How manny amps is the adapter??? Is the pencil hb? Mine stuffed up. Also the wire went red hot. Also lead smoke is Toxic so be careful peeps.

why it does not work?? i am use old usb cable (i did open this cable and used red and black) and pencil HB-2 . and connected to my lapptop then im wait 5 minets then nothing happend .... i need help please

Kanka makine çok iyi ben denedim 5 saniyede ısınıyo ama tek sorun adaptör çok ısınıyor fazla durarsa eğer adaptör bozula bilir şarja taktınız cihazlar yana bilir adaptör patlayıp yangın bile çıkartabilir ama bu sorunlar çözülürse çok iyi olur.
