NEW GRAPHICS VIDEO 2024:

In this video, I will be showing you the best settings for the highest quality graphics in OSRS. The plugins that I'm using are the 117 HD plugin, Camera, Detached Camera, Animation Smoothing, GPU and Camera Smoothing plugins from the RuneLite Plugin Hub. I also show-off the graphics in the HDOS client, where you have the graphics from RuneScape in 2009, if that's what you're interested in.

This is an updated video from my old "Get Better Graphics in OSRS - RuneLite BEST Graphics Settings (OpenGL) | Old School RuneScape" video, where a lot of new updates have happened since.

Hey I know the HD one wasn't your thing but I think it was exactly what I was looking for so thanks for still showing it!

Most people that give HDOS a fair shot do like it. It hurts a little to see a comparison where it is shown for 50 seconds in probably one of the worst outdated area in the whole of F2P; with the graphics settings turned down; not mentioning updated models; underwater; improved animations and animation smoothing that scales beyond 60 fps; real nostalgic areas (Lumbridge is a whole different ball game) and more.. The common contention is plugins, which is being worked on tirelessly.

But everyone has right to their opinion, and I respect it if it's just not your cup of tea. Just would have liked if a little bit more was shown off (:

117 is the only reason I started playing osrs again. I LOVE rs but the old graphics burned my eyes.

damn man I was waiting to get back into OSRS but last time I tried runelite I couldnt figure out how to even properly get above 60 fps. Now I see all this. Thanks for the video!

Just to help you understand Anisotropic Filtering, it basically makes distant, usually ground, textures look sharper when viewed off-angle instead of getting blurrier. It's almost always recommended to keep it at 16x

Adaptive changes the FPS target of your runescape client based on your refreshrate, and also takes the fpslock into account. So VSync can be enabled even at say, 64fps. Basically changes the VSync to Sync with whatever the current average framerate is. Usually best to keep this option off if you have a strong enough pc to not worry about it. Which for most gamers is probably okay.

Aniscoperic Filtering makes changes to textures at different angles. So if you see a wall from a 90* angle, it will look normal.

117 HD with detailed textures turned off and some slight adjustments feels like the pinnacle of OSRS graphics without losing the style. I'm surprised not more people use it, it feels the same only much more vibrant and modern. Atmospheric lighting really brings out the atmospheric feel some areas should have, best example is probably morytania slayer tower

16K shadows is insanely demanding on your GPU in 117. If you bring that down to 4K or 2K (which still looks really good with shadow distance set to 20) you could probably afford to increase your draw distance quite a bit. Awesome video, I like seeing the differences in people's settings.

Since you said you didn't know what VSync is, just wanted to throw this out there, as its one of the most important gfx settings in PC Gaming. VSync syncs up your FPS to that of your monitor. So if you have a 144 hz monitor, vsync will keep it at 144 fps. Due to the fact VSync is software, it will create input lag, there's no avoiding that.

I always recommend keeping VSync off unless you're dealing with massive screen tearing (which can happen due to your hardwares failure to render fast enough, usually on lower end PCs)

anisotropic filtering is the curve of reflection on an object so basically if you got water will the image of a building reflecting off the water bend according to the angle of the light and movement of the water or will it just reflect an exact still image of it ! i learned this while learning blender lol but for all those folks that dont know!

I like the look of HDOS, but I can't play OSRS without all of the Runelite features 😅

turn on animation smoothing and unlock the fps so yo can go over 50fps, Vsync is to match the fps to the hz of your monitor as if you have a 60hz display going to 70 fps could lead to frameskips so it would only go to 60fps

Wtf i had no idea you could do that. Definitely trying this out immediately.

Osrs graphics aren't bad but after years of that ish it starts weighing on you especially if you've never tried hd graphics, but man.. does it give the game new life holy guacamole

Just figured I'd add: tick unlock FPS and then cap the fps to whatever you want - then it'll do above 50fps.

runelite needs to comeup with HDOS Graphics

2:54 It goes up to 50 because you have unlock fps off, having that setting off limits the fps to 50

So I liked your settings in the video and was trying to mimic it. The saturation and contrast is now a % rather than higher. Have you messed with that at all and have a good sweet spot within the %?
